where is Squids' Tron Collection Volume 2? SAMPLETRON!

And yeah....Squids said V2 was still coming but there was something else as well...which I guess is SampleTron.
I'm also guessing that SampleTron will not have all the content from V1 & V2 but that you wil be able to load all that content into SampleTron.
I'd wager that there's going to be some crossgrades from other IK prods to SampleTron and some crossgrades to the V1&V2 content if you own SampleTron...but that could just be the drugs kicking in

How they price these will be really interesting. Will they be priced around how much ExpansionTanks were or will it be priced like you're buying SampleTank with a smaller, specialized sound bank? I'm hoping for the former, but probably somewhere in the middle.

Apparently StudioPhonik has its own product page up on KVR now, with a price listed as 399 Euros (about $530).
Yeesh. I hope that's not any indication of what one might have to pay for SampleTron.
This makes me wonder if esoundz is going forward with releasing Squids Tron Vol. 2 after all. I already have a wealth of Mellotron sounds; what I'm really interested in is the Optigan/Talentmaker files, like the loops, etc. that Squids hinted at.
So, is Squids Vol. 2 now dead in the water? And if not, is it coming soon?
Squids?

That's from after NAMM....so, it looks to me like SampleTron is the something else...Squids wrote:Well, the good news is that Studiophonik isn't exactly dropped either. It may have a new life, just a little bit different than originally announced but I may have found a way to keep it affordable too. We'll just have to see on that... but sooner than you think!
Squids Tron Vol. 2 IS coming and there's even something else coming along the same lines as well... so TWO products in the quirky keyboard category to look forward to this year... and in the first half of this year. Exactly when I don't know yet but I will let everyone know when it is getting real close.
The Studiophonik page is from some time ago....but I'm sure Squids will have a few brew-skis and give us more of the goods later.

Squids Tron Collection V1 "lists" for $399 US, but eSoundz sells it for $179 (should I be annoyed that it cost those of us in the original group buy $15 more than this?).
I just skimmed through the entire thread (which began in 2005!) and found Squids refer to the following keyboards which, though not Trons, were going to be included in Volume 2:
Baldwin Electric Harpsichord, Hohner Cymbalet, Novachord, Clavioline
Squids is probably wandering the streets of Germany looking for some sushi right now! Let's hope he has a chance to post here before he stumbles into a beer hall (because otherwise, he'll only want to talk about his idea for "OompaPhonik" with the greatest accordion and tuba samples you'll ever hear).

I hope I don't have to buy SampleTron just to get the content that was headed for Volume 2. If I do, I hope that there's a reasonably priced crossgrade for STCV1 owners.
So here are my questions for Squids:
How much SampleTron content is not found in Squids' Tron Collection Volume 1?
Will there still be a Tron Collection Volume 2 with those sounds (and others you mentioned as being in V2 like the Clavioline)?
Does SampleTron contain ALL the samples found in Squids' Tron Collection Volume 1 (Remember some non-Trons came with V1 - like Jon Brion's harmonium or the Jaymar toy piano)?
SampleTank will load SampleTron sounds, but is the reverse true?
Universal Binary?
Price/crossgrade/upgrade?
EDIT: Found that all are VST/AU/RTAS or stand-alone.
New things in SampleTron (based on the list): Stylophone, Roland VP330 choir, 360 Systems Digital Tron, Mellotron Powerhouse, Chamberlin Rhythmate
SampleTron is a mix of Squids Tron Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. All Squids Tron Vol. 1 users will be able to get a discounted crossgrade exclusively from www.esoundz.com Not sure the price yet but it will be worth the price for the extra sounds and cool more powerful software... and nice looking too eh? VINTAGE!!!! haha. Love those Tron knobs.
There are also additional Mellotron and Chamberlin instrument sounds in it as well. Some of the extras like Jon Brion's Harmononium and the Toy Piano are not included though.
As for some of the more obscure instruments I mentioned... we did include a few in SampleTron but we'll release the rest of them and more separately. More news on that to come. Meanwhile, SampleTron and Studiophonik are not that far away from release! I mean in a few months or so... start licking your chops (and practicing your chops) this is going to be GOOOOOOOD!
Oh yes, all new IK/SR plug-ins will be UB.

There's no more SampleTank 2 LE. So, Squids Tron 2 is incorporated into SampleTron.aquasloth wrote:Apparently StudioPhonik has its own product page up on KVR now, with a price listed as 399 Euros (about $530).

Squids?
The price is less than Studiophonik. Studiophonik was actually going to be MORE but we kept it at that price... same price as Sonik Synth 2. Also the crossgrade price is good if you own ANY IK product... remember that the "crossgrades" with IK are now "crossgrades for all" so it doesn't matter WHAT IK product you own you can get a discount on another. It's a really good deal for what you get in all three of these.
No bundle of all three... apart from working a deal with esoundz or any store if you wanted to get all three where I am sure you can get a break... but you do already get the crossgrade discount break.

Yeah, actually the price of Squids Tron is "on sale" and it has been (probably too long) and is more of an oversight being THAT low (so get it while you can because it's going away very soon... possibly forever). It was a fluke really. So many people complained they missed the group buy that we brought it back. It's been one of our most popular esoundz products. I had no idea so many people had such esoteric tastes... but they will be rewarded with one of the most rare instruments ever commercially released- the SampleTron.SometimesNothing wrote:All of the "official" things I've read from IK say that pricing will be announced later.

Those other instruments will be released in something else... stay tuned for more news on that.

It's interesting to me Squids that the Trons are so popular.
It won't be the first time that I have not been able to "get" what other musicians just take for granted.
I'm not just talking about the Sonic Reality products, but there was a VSTi plug-in that seemed very popular as well.
I guess I may be moving more into "getting" it as I contemplate the SampleMoog as my interest in that would not so much be for sound design as it is quick dial-up of classic sounds. And that's I guess what the Tron collection/instrument is about.
I might have to revisit various demos done over the years with Tron-like sounds and try to work out whether it's something that can click with me.
While I'm on the topic though. Alot of Tron1 sounds are available from eSoundz as downloadable. I might be interested in buying some of these, but there are never any audio demos of the patches for sale. Is it likely that eSoundz will produce audio demos for all of these?
Regards
Caleb

Oh, cool, at least I have a better idea of when to watch out for it! Thanks for the info, can't wait to mess around with it!Meanwhile, SampleTron and Studiophonik are not that far away from release! I mean in a few months or so...
I was wondering that myself. There are a few Tron sounds I don't have that I'll probably buy as downloads from eSounds, like the pizzicato strings, etc. (as well as Jon Brion's harmonium! While I'm on the topic though. Thanks for dropping in Squids. I'm still a little unclear on a few things though:Squids wrote:SampleTron is a mix of Squids Tron Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. All Squids Tron Vol. 1 users will be able to get a discounted crossgrade exclusively from www.esoundz.com
1)Aside from the JB harmonium and the toy piano, is everything else from Squids Tron V1 in the SampleTron library?
2)Will SampleTron allow me to load other Sonic Reality sounds that I own (like the JB harmonium and toy piano!)?
And I'm sure everyone here wouldn't mind if you posted a detailed list of what's new (aka the Volume 2 stuff)!
