I think it's a great sounding emulation, and a great synth in its own right. But I would seriously look at re-doing the whole GUI. It doesn't make much sense to emulate the exact GUI (with its inherent single-parameter editing restrictions) when computers can let you have a slider or knob per function.

The sound is called JX8P and I'm actually pretty sure that it could be found in the big collection of patches that tomg compiled earlier in this thread. As for the chords, I would have to look up what I played again, but most likely it was something with many black keys (the first one was probably in E flat minor key, playing a G flat major chord - second inversion with the fifth is in the bass, over an E flat bassnote - but to be honest I'm not that good in music theory or terms, I just play what sounds good to me)...

Yeah, i've found it in the collection

So the first 2 sounds in your demo are the same (=JX8P)?

Yes, that's correct! It's one of my favorite patches of all time. Cool example track too... only maybe a bit hectic for my taste.

Not only is this an addictive little tune that's been running looped for almost 7 minutes now, dear Pepsito. But Chris, hectic? May I remind you of the "first level" music for Turrican II? Maybe it's the age that mellows you a little, but you used to write some fast little tunes.

And may I just add that, although my taste music has changed fundamentally (or broadened), your game soundtracks for the Turrican games and X-Out (Also your creation, I believe) have got me wanting to make music. You wouldn't believe how many pseudo-Huelsbeck tracks I've done in my first 3 years, literally hundreds. You'd be proud. Back then when you had a studio near Frankfurt, I even thought of sending you a CD with all the stuff, as a thank you for the inspiration.

Sorry but i've done this little tune in just 15 minutes and it should only demonstrate the JX-sound, nothing more. Had no time to work it out and make a big hit out of it *g*

Hehe... there's the reason... 15 minutes... no wonder it sounds hectic...

But jokes aside, it was not meant as criticism. I am just stressed with work these days and prefer more soothing music... it's all me...
