Ok I'm not too sure if this has asked here already (this year) but I'm trying to figure out what verb can stand up to Waves Trueverb. My boss owns the bundle and I had a chance to mess with it and WOW. The features and clarity are simply amazing and easy to work with. Plus it seems to be very transparant on the audio. Let me know if theres anything out there better IYO before I go buy it..

I love TrueVerb; it's still my favourite for creating room ambiences, something about it just sounds like you're in a room with it! In fact, I don't bother with much else, so I'm not sure what to recommend!
Perhaps Silverspike R2; I thought this one was good for ambiences (not so much for longer, effect-reverbs). Spazio gets good reviews too.

It all boils down to personal taste but i still have an opinion you might be interested in, I like CSR better then true verb (wich i have'nt heard in a long time). You can demo CSR hear- www.classikstudioreverb.com
Also Variverb is pretty good to. It is transparent and natural and CSR has alot of Character and flexibility.

And someone had to mention Arts Acoustic Reverb.
I did
Yea Variverb is amazing, especially the HQ algos... wasn't that impressed by CSR (I'm mostly looking for big tail huge reverbs, not room reverbs... and CSR imho doesn't shine in the former area).

The only reason I didn't metion AAR and CSR is because I see them more as "effect" reverbs than ambience reverbs, but that is totally MHO. Variverb rules, I should've mentioned that, but it's not available everywhere yet, I don't think.
And there's just something about TrueVerb, I swear: it has a very lively stereo effect that makes it seem more real; but it can get ringy quickly.

I love AAR! Loooove it! That and the Waves RVerb witch is pretty similar to TrueVerb. Though I've only gotten a chance to play with TrueVerb at work (I only have the RenMaxx bundle, not enough dough for the TDM Diamond bundle). I agree that the AAR is more of an effect than an ambience generator though. I really like that I can use similar settings on two different tracks and it will sound completely different... but cohesive. The RVerb is my goto for room ambience.

Also, the PSP EasyVerb is pretty good as far as "per track" effects go. They also got a copy of Altiverb at work recently. Maybe I wasn't using it on fitting material but I wasn't impressed.

RVerb! I always found it a little weak; hard to get it to "stick" to material. But I remember when that was tbe bee's knees, and it used so much CPU, it could bring Nuendo to a halt. Now, this and TrueVerb you could run on every track if you wanted to!justin3am wrote:I love AAR! Loooove it! That and the Waves RVerb witch is pretty similar to TrueVerb. I always get bashed when all modestly naming TrueVerb, wich makes it really nice to see more like me who love it. Its great, still!
For room verb, it cant get any better than the Princeton RoomVerb tho. That thing is out of this world.

To be honest...Trueverb was a good reverb some time ago, but nowadays there are much better plugins! In my opinion WIZOO W2 is the most realistic reverb (convolution reverb), really sounds superb! CSR is very good, too. Sounds more musical (algorithmic reverb)

Are you opposed to buying TrueVerb? It's $500 on its own, or you have to get it in the Native bundle, $500.Lagrange wrote:This is great info thanks!! Anymore?? Going to order something this weekend and don't mind dropping some coin on it.. Oh I should have mentioned that I'm looking for more of a natural room verb than an effecty one..

What on earth is the distinction between an "effect" reverb and an "ambience" reverb?bduffy wrote:The only reason I didn't metion AAR and CSR is because I see them more as "effect" reverbs than ambience reverbs, but that is totally MHO.
