New Solaris hardware synth from synth guru John Bowen

John Bowen (one of the original Sequential Circuits guys and co-designer of the Prophet 5) has teamed up with SonicCore (one of the restructured CreamWare companies) to produce a hardware version of the uber-synth Solaris which has been avaiable for the Scope platform for a while. It is semi-modular and i think will probably sound bloody marvellous if the software version is anything to go by and will be very, very flexible.

Cool - he's been talking about this for ages
I already have the software synth but it eats DSP for breakfast.

Its one of those synths that sounds good even in mono though - much like DS Evolver

what I really do not like with this scope plug-in, is the fact that switching presets needs some time to load the different modules inside.
But thats due to its concept.
The Solaris hardware will surely be superior in that department.. But I'm sure the price will be also 10 times as high as the scope plug-in.

It should be added that Antti who did Augur etc. wrote the whole code for this neat machine from scratch.

And btw. there is no CW Scope technology in that synth.

No mention of Antti there. But then i saw something to the effect of:there were other people involved, why they are'nt mentioned i don't know.John has teamed up with Holger Drenkelfort and Juergen Kindermann (SonicCore GmbH) to produce the Solaris synthesizer.
Then i saw this.
So this is Antti he's referring to.So that's why he's been so damn busy lately. Also, we brought in a talented dsp programmer to write completely new algorithm code specifically for the Solaris.
Coolness.

I think that Antti's involvement should have to be pointed out more prominently therefore I did this post!jupiter8 wrote: Then i saw this.So this is Antti he's referring to.So that's why he's been so damn busy lately. Also, we brought in a talented dsp programmer to write completely new algorithm code specifically for the Solaris.![]()

However, now that SonicCore has acquired rights to the Creamware dsp library, I will be able to incorporate their special modules as well in Solaris. I'm also discussing licensing other algorithm work for future dsp expansion packs. It's my plan to have the Solaris act as a capable 'host system' for a wide variety of synthesis types, while still providing an ease-of-use factor."

Evolver, the rebirth of Waldorf, and now this.
Pretty exciting.
You said there is no Creamware code in this machine, which it also says on John's site. However, on John's site it also says that they have now acquired the rights to the Creamware dsp library, so the future looks very promising indeed!!!
