Here's a new (hopefully) complete version of the track with full organ sole, new third verse and proper fade out. Boy, have I had fun making this! :D Please give it another listen.

It Doesn't Have To Be That Way

I think this is the best thing I've ever done, although it took a lot of time. Towards the end Tracktion 2 packed up on me :( and wouldn't save new edits. So, I can't really make any more changes.

I'm really grateful for the help/advice above. I've learnt a lot from making this one. Again, I would welcome feedback.

Hope you like it! :)

Great!!

What if you panned that guitar a little more to the left? (not during the solo, but during the verse)

If you use busses to handle the reverb, you'll find you can pan stuff more drastically for a wider mix, without disconnecting the instruments, since the bed of reverb around the center holds it together.

Sounds great though!

Thanks Greg! :)

This is all great practical advice.

As I mentioned above, my Tracktion edit has packed up, so I'll have to try to reconstruct it somehow. As you cleverly detected, I was a bit lazy with the reverb, and plastered it on the whole guitar track. I'll read up on how best to do a reverb bus in Tracktion, and try what you've suggested.

Excellent stuff, AlanB.

Those minor changes and a third verse have made it a much more polished and complete track.

Keef and Miller would love it.

Awesome AbsoFreakinBluesLutely Awesome!

I love everything about this track, the arrangement, the instruments, your voice, the guitars, it all sits very nice here. This is surely one of your best tracks and the vox just adds that complete feel to the song.

Great Job M8!

Wow! What can I say?

Thanks Paul for your very generous praise. I'm also very grateful for the encouragement I get from yourself and Greg, and also the other folks at the Manytone Music forum. :)

Tne foundation for this track was the Manytone Ultimate Bass Kit. It's an automatic choice. I use the bass to map out the verses, breaks etc, and fit everything else round it. Also it was my first chance to use the freebie zone Kawai Grand Piano (KGP).

I hope you guys don't think I'm double posting, but I thought I'd mention this track in the Music Cafe, just to see if I can squeeze out a few more plays! Over Easter I'll see if I can sort the reverb bus out, but in the meantime I'm going to have another play with the Manytone Upright Bass........

Thanks again guys! :D
