Taking a quick look at the waves site ( http://waves.com/Content.aspx?id=272 ) I see they're using the Large Concert preset.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

I'm strictly an amateur and relatively new to music making (especially listening to reverb effects). I couldn't argue with any of you if you said I didn't know what made a good reverb, and I don't know which are considered the best by pros. But after a serious effort listening to many of the demo reverbs out there, Wizooverb stood out as the most realistic, natural sounding reverb. I bought the W2/W5 combo package special and have not regretted it.

waves trueverb? what the f...? hello? 2007 calling! I honestly thought someone resurrected a thread from way back when, from like '98? ten years of more advanced software plugin development has gone on since.
CSR and Variverb stomp over that thing like there's no tomorrow, for example.

I didn't think you suscribed to the it's-bad-becuase-it's-old camp! Yes, it's old; no, it's not the greatest reverb known to man, but IMHO, I think it creates a good sense of space, and should be used carefully, otherwise it just sounds ringy. I find I can get a room-like sound that gels with the source more quickly out of this than other reverbs, which tend to sound more like a classy reverb "stuck on" to the material. I love using TrueVerb when I want to send something to the "back" of the mix, during a break or something. It's a good effect, just don't expect The Enya Reverb from it.Kingston wrote:waves trueverb? what the f...? hello? 2007 calling! Regarding CPU useage, the AAReverb is excellent on my Macbook 2GHz (Core Duo). A stereo instance is using around 6-7%.

It's just that like chagzuki, I thought it was grainy sounding shite even back in '98. Don't even get me started on renaissance reverb!
The fact we only had these grain machines as reverbs for so long even influenced my sound quite a bit during the years, as I still tend not to use much reverb, except real room (mono) ambience while recording, or trick width with more traditional delays or the haas effect.

Oh, you won't catch me defending RVerb (puke)! That's the funny thing; I used to use reverbs way more than I do now; now I favour compression to bring out decay in drums and delays to add space to vocals. Of course now they make good reverbs!Kingston wrote:I don't.bduffy wrote:I didn't think you suscribed to the it's-bad-becuase-it's-old camp!

What do you guys think of the Lexicon Pantheon reverb? I thought it was pretty good, but I'm not an expert in this area that's for sure. I certainly prefer it to some others I've tried, but there are quite a few reverbs I've never even demo'd.

ouch, not a good idea to mention pantheon in a "kingston-watched" thread

well im just playing but i agree with him that its a one trick, not always desirable, 80's grain pony. (if that is indeed how he feels, which i remotely remember being)
