I think there might be certain aspects of this contest theme that tend to have an unspecified level of suckiness :x :tantrum:
Could you be more specific?

:hihi:

I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

I suppose one could say that.

And if I earn a million bucks writting a remake of Ngyuen's file #2, do I have to give him 0.11 % of that?

I do hope NOT !!

No because that particular composition was also made for a different competition. (5 audio/midi short demo songs based on a selectable list. Got 2nd place overall. :D)

If anything, I'd at least request some kind of confirmation and a free copy of said material. ;) THAT alone I'm sure is only worth 0.00005% (appx. $5 bucks :D)

I got the same problem here. I tried in Cubase, EXT, and Luna and they all bung everything in the file onto one track. These are the only apps I have that handle midi.
I have very limited knowledge of midi, so if no-one can answer this for me I'll just have to ditch file 4 totally.

Well you could always download a MIDI sequencer, copy the tracks you want and re-save the MIDI.

The sequencer I use (WinJammer Pro 5.06, you cannot download/buy it anymore since 1997) You can split the channels that are merged into one track

OK.....I've just managed to open them in Podium, but I don't know what to do with them as I haven't got round to learning how to use this app yet!
I'll get there eventually!

Arrrgghhhhhh,

I was afraid that there might be some hosemosis with this file.

Unfortunately, I cant get to this till late tonite, or more than likely, tomorrow nite.

In the mean time, if anyone could help out, I'd really appreciate it.

I looked at file 4 in the piano roll view and separated it into 5 tracks that seem to hang together logically. I still couldn't do anything with them, but if anybody wants them, pm me and I can send them to you.

I have just tried this in Cubase LE - Import the midi file. As you say, it ends up on one track, but go to the MIDI menu at the top of the screen. There is an option to "disolve midi" which allows you to seperate the tracks. I hope it works for you.

Cheers,

File 1 has proper information, the others don't have. We needed some time to figure out, file 3 is Roasmunde :hihi: :nutter:..... .

First batch of reviews:

Farlukar: Remote commander - Very pleasent, nice friendly bouncy beats and a delicious set of sounds that would make file4 a very hard target indeed if it wasn't such a jumble.

The bar has been set high from day one.
