While I'm on the topic though. Alot of Tron1 sounds are available from eSoundz as downloadable. I might be interested in buying some of these, but there are never any audio demos of the patches for sale. Is it likely that eSoundz will produce audio demos for all of these?

www.esoundz.com is evolving and we have big plans for it in the downloadable sound category. There are literally tens of thousands of products ranging from one loop in loop club to individual instruments in both SampleTank as well as other popular format to sound packs (like mini Expansion Tanks) being prepared to be put up on the site and YES along with demos. Each sound is supposed to have a little demo... but it's also nice to at least have them available to buy for those that want it before have gotten to making a demo for it. Ideally, they'd all have demos and eventually they will!

Some of those tron sounds however may be taken down though as we're re-arranging the downloadable sound offering soon.

Thanks for dropping in Squids. I'm still a little unclear on a few things though:

1)Aside from the JB harmonium and the toy piano, is everything else from Squids Tron V1 in the SampleTron library?

Squids: The sound set isn't finalized but the product is intended to be one full DVD. We may take off some Squids Tron V1 sounds to make room for some new ones. One of the main purposes of this product is to also give MORE to Squids Tron users. Oh, one thing we WILL do though is make sure it can read ALL Squids Tron Vol. 1 sounds though if you have it. So, that way when/if you upgrade you won't lose any sounds you liked. At the time of release I will tell you guys exactly what we didn't use so you can copy those over into your SampleTron folder and you'll be all set.

2)Will SampleTron allow me to load other Sonic Reality sounds that I own (like the JB harmonium and toy piano!)?

Squids: I am not sure about its ability to read OTHER SampleTank sounds... there's SampleTank 2.5 for that! But, as I just mentioned, I WILL make sure it can read ALL of the Squids Tron Vol. 1 sounds even if there are ones that aren't included. Remember the "Quirky Section"? The one with the really #$*@#ed sounds? We might leave that out for instance... a little less for the "main stream". ie. "Why is this sound so warbly?" The "one man's trash is another man's gold" section. Haha. I'll let you guys know final details. But there IS sense in getting or having gotten Squids Tron V1 if you are REALLY a fan of all that is TRON!

3) And I'm sure everyone here wouldn't mind if you posted a detailed list of what's new (aka the Volume 2 stuff)!

Squids: I will do that just before release.

By the way, Squids Tron Collection V1 & V2 will still be coming in Reason and other formats this year. Owners of SampleTron will get a VERY good discount as will previous owners of the Squids Tron Collection in ST format.

That makes sense.

I guess it might not make as much sense to have a tonne of Tron instrument sounds that are going to appear in an upcoming product launch sitting around for individual download.

I'm also guessing that the revamp will add alot of the Expansion Tank content for download.

Ah speculation - marvellous thing. :hihi:

Yes, since SampleTank 2 LE is discontinued the Expansion Tank SR content will become "library content only" for SampleTank users and we might as well make that easy access downloadable in split up lower cost sub sets. A different way to offer them which seems appropriate now since they are becoming hard to get.

For your enjoyment, here's a pic of John Lennon in his home studio playing his Mellotron:

That picture is awesome. Looks like a Mk2. You know the Mellotron Mk5 that McCartney has looks just like the one I had that used to belong to Joni Mitchell. There's only about 10 or so in the world apparently. Rick Wakeman has one as well. It's a dual manual.

So are you guys excited about SampleTron? What do you think? Looks cool doesn't it? It has those classic Mellotron knobs. :hihi: and some wear and tear.

after reading through this thread *twice* ( i know, i know, i'm kinda dense ) i would like to ask squids if we're any closer to knowing when "squids tron V2" will be coming out? i have the 1st (part of the group buy wayyy back when) and REALLY want V2 but i gather that the release of the sampletron has pushed V2 back. would this be correct?

I was explaining a few pages back that what we did was incorporate the sounds of Squids Tron Vol. 2 along with the best of Squids Tron Vol. 1 into SampleTron. Squids Tron Vol. 1 users will have a reasonable upgrade path to SampleTron.

Squids Tron Vol. 1 & 2 may be made available in OTHER formats though such as Reason and maybe Kontakt, SFZ etc. That's later on though. First will be SampleTron the main product that will be in stores. Everything else will be custom www.esoundz.com products.

ok, please forgive me but i'm trying to keep this straight...thanks for taking the time to help me, btw...

so, if i *just* want the V2 sounds, i will have to wait for it to be on esoundz.com, right? and if that is correct, do you have an ETA on that?

I'm excited!

More Mellotron! I love my Squid's Trons 1, and I'm looking forward to the new sounds!

My only concern is that I'm hoping that the user interface is a little better in SampleTron (and SampleTank 2.5) than in SampleTank 2.1. It's really painful having to click on those tiny little triangles in order to browse through the sounds.

If you just want the sounds for Reason, Kontakt or other samplers you mean? There will not be a SampleTank version of Squids Tron 2 because there is no more SampleTank 2 LE. In fact, Squids Tron 1 will be going away soon and there will only be SampleTron (and maybe a bonus disc with the rest of Squids Tron 1) for SampleTank format (SampleTron can also be used as a library for SampleTank as well... covering both a library and a plug-in in one).

ETA for the other stuff... not sure. Later this year.

It's painful? I don't mind it. But the font will be a little larger at least in SampleTron if that helps. I think the browser is fine personally.

Hi,

I'm new here, and I want to buy Squid's 'Tron collection V1.

I have Sonar Home Studio XL Ver. 6.

Do I need the Sample Tank LE?

If so, is it still available.

Also, did you sample the Trons etc. in loops, or the full 8 seconds per note like the M-Tron?

From what I heard on your demo's, it's great!

Please let me know if I can still buy it.

Thanks,

Fretless

You can still get it and it will come with SampleTank 2 LE until we run out of them. Then the product will be cancelled. However, here is how you'll know. As long as this link is active and you order then you will get it. http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=220 As soon as you don't see that product available anymore or if that page changes (ie. maybe it will be available but just not with the SampleTank LE anymore) then that will be the point where getting it with an ST2LE is not possible anymore.

http://www.esoundz.com/details.php?ProductID=220

SampleTank 2 LE will not work with UB Macs though. You can always upgrade to full SampleTank however... which is recommneded. OR SampleTron which is coming in a few months.

The sounds in SampleTron are looped. The sounds in Squids Tron Vol. 1 are both looped and non-looped (many of which are the full 8 sec duration).

I don't mean to derail this thread with petty UI complaints, because it is all about the sounds, which are excellent!

I find the ST browser hard to use because (a) it doesn't respond to the mouse wheel, (b) you have to click on the little arrows instead of the names to open folders, (c) it doesn't respond to the keyboard (cursors, page up, page down, home, end), (d) there are no buttons (or keyboard shortcuts) for next/prev patch, and (e) because the font is really tiny.

So a larger font is a start! :)

I can't remember if ST responds to midi patch change commands or not. If it does, then maybe I just need to get a controller with patch +/- buttons on it.

Again, sorry about the UI rant. I may not be the typical customer, but the UI is important to me. When I'm recording and my workspace is a tangle of instruments and cables, the last thing I want to do is precision mouse work just to scroll through the patches. So I tend to just not use plugins that are hard to use.
