Hi All,

I've got a pair of GFS Lil Killers and a GFS Bigmouth bridge to replace the stock pups on one of my guitars. I'm starting from scratch with this guitar with new 500k pots (inc a push pull tone pot) capacitor and 5 way selector.

Basically, the Lil Killers are single coil sized humbuckers that can be coil tapped. They have 4 leads, ground/white/red/green, but the Bigmouth bridge has 5 leads, ground/black/white/red/green. As recommended by GFS, I've had a look at the Seymour Duncan wiring diagrams, but I can't find one that is applicable to this pup configuration.

My original intention was to coil tap at least one of the Lil Killers, but I can't find out how to go about doing it. I've emailed Jay@GFS, but he hasn't got, or knows about, a wiring diagram for what I was looking to do. The coil tap was only an idea, I'll be quite happy with a 3 'humbucker' setup, but I'm still not cetain which, if any, of the SD wiring diagrams is the correct one.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'll be muchly greatful, but bear in mind I'm very much a novice when it comes to this sort of thing. I can change a like-for-like pup using the original pots no problem, but I'm a tad confused by this lot.
RIP Black Tom and Beckett. They weren't just cats, they were MY cats, the best cats ever.

First off the Bigmouth with the 5 leads is still basically 4 conductor with a ground(bare wire), YOu simply solder to top of control pot..

Coil tap is fairly simple, YOu just need to find what each wire does. I.E Seymour DUncan and Dimarzio dont have the same color wires do the same thing.

YOu need to find whats the start of 1 coil and the end of that coil. Which in turn will tell you the startt and end of the second coil. NOw all a coil split will do is turn off one of these coils, effectively making it a single coil..

One of the easiest ways to coil tap is install a off/on mini switch.. I imagine you are trying to coil tap with the push-pull?? otherwise this diagrahm should be close

Although it is splitting all 3,, why not??

Thanks Killvehicle,
I found this diagram earlier today (then couldn't remember which one it was  ) and it's the nearest thing to what I want. All 3 GFS pups can be coil tapped, so it 'seems' ideal, the only difference being, my guitar has a single tone pot, tho' I'm not sure how that'll affect things.

Try this one, and just wire the push pull like the first diagragm..
