Echo Voodoo - Whoa. Trippy polka. Sounds like someone had too much Vodka to drink. :O
Farlukar - Remote Commander, very spacey. I could associate this to a computer game because it's very fitting, simple but somehow memorable.
Lubi - This I could associate to a rather old game due to its very...90's era music on software type of sound. It doesn't sound very medieval to me as the name I had the impression of. More like a countryside...
Hellbilly - Polyanna, and it does use that Poly-Ana thing. Maybe a bit too repetitive for my tastes, but the sounds used are nice.
gag3 - Using a controversial aspect of music. Highly clashing, though I seriously can't fit the music in. Very experimental.
mmichalski59 - They really do fly to heaven. You managed to prune down just enough of the original song. Nice, but somewhat lacking something.
Patrick9 - Another polkie, this time mixed with some typical dance sounds. The combination didn't quite come out right to my ears, and it diddn't quite make sense as a cohesive whole.
Max el Bega - Well I'm surprised you didn't cut this up to your liking. Anyway, I like the sounds used on this though I can't say I agree with the drum sounds used. Some instruments were omitted.
Otherwise, great effort, clean sounding.
For those with vocals, I seriously don't understand what the heck they mean. Great guys so far.

I like to think of it as a pseudo-psychedelic downtempo hiphop electropolka, though it's probably none of those things. And I was not under the influence of any intoxicating substances when I made it (though perhaps that would have helped). Stressed and lacking sleep, yes, but not intoxicated.MaliceX wrote:Echo Voodoo - Whoa. Trippy polka. Sounds like someone had too much Vodka to drink. :O
I thought my lyrics were mostly straightforward, a slight modification of the english lyrics to the Beer Barrel Polka, except for the middle section which just lists titles of popular polka songs. No particular meaning except: polkas are cheery tunes, and here's a list of polka titles.MaliceX wrote:For those with vocals, I seriously don't understand what the heck they mean.
I know what you mean about the other songs, though; unlike me, those guys didn't make any sense at all.

Hovmod, I just feel the same. Sound-painting is how I see most of the music I'm doing here. Tx mate.
MaliceX, MidiMaster by excellence (I presume you're the happy father of file #2), of course I didn't cut in the song structure.
I don't have a formula-I gearbox connected to my pc, like you IMO, to control and manipulate measure and tempo changes.
Yes, you're right about the drumsounds, but I'm having a handicap right now : the enclosure of my external HD is failing (with all my drum sets etc. on it), so I was somehow limited.
I should have worked more on it, your composition deserves it !
And this is exactly what's it all about, here begins the "magic" : "When is a song perfectly finished ?"
A good friend here (a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist) worked 2 years on his last CD and IMO it was already perfect after 1 year (it only costed more money and time)...
On the other hand we have a grandmaster here that with some spoons and... in fact nearly nothing (just imagine a concert : Jimi Hendrix on ukulele, Keith Emmerson with his little Casio and John Bonham on spoons...
) always gets away with it !
The ample and diverse styles of music and concepts within the KvR song contest are an amazing help and inspiration, although the first time, one might feel himself like a penguin in a garage.
More than ever "participating is more important than winning" is true, in the KvR song contest !
And don't forget : sooner or later you win; Mello is the living prove !
Blablabla... .. .
Max goes coffee... .. .

Thanks for the comments! If you figure out what it is that is lacking, please let me know.MaliceX wrote:mmichalski59 - They really do fly to heaven. You managed to prune down just enough of the original song. Nice, but somewhat lacking something.

mmichalski59 - They fly to heaven : You sure took me up there ! 1 thing though; are you Oddbods, trying to participate twice, from your neighbour's pc ? Very well done (I need to find a way to get out of here, too many good stuff; maybe simulating some whatever-crash...) !

Max, I will take that as a compliment. I dig Oddbod's stuff. However, if I really were Oddobds, there would have been a vocal...which I was planning until my wife reminded me we were heading on vacation and I darn well wasn't going to work on this during vacation. So, the flute had to do.Max el Belga wrote:mmichalski59 - They fly to heaven : You sure took me up there ! 1 thing though; are you Oddbods, trying to participate twice, from your neighbour's pc ? As to your entry, I really dig it. When I listened to the four files, I really wanted to use #2 but I didn't have the time needed to dissect it. Excellent work!
I will get to some reviews later today.

Hello Michael, I'm the submitter for file#1.
It's always an emotion listening to how you guys can do wonders on your draft music. Even though the file #1 is a brutal (adapted by Scoops) strip down of a much more complex (and long) song, I'm very excited to see people building (and inventing) on it.
The only little sad thing for me is that, of course, the MIDI file doesn't absolutely make justice to the whole original mix.
Congratulation for your talented submission!
Regards,
Mario

I think after the contest is over, or at least, after the deadline has been reached, the original for this track should be posted.mabian wrote:Hello Michael, I'm the submitter for file#1.

I think it would fun to let people hear what the original sounds like.

I have a really fast computer, some good mics, vintage musical instruments, and lots of fancy software. Just need some talent

Hi Scoops,
it will surely be a pleasure for me; I'm sad that artistcollaboration.com seems starving, but I'm very happy to see that here at KVR there are several cool guys
Hope to start many collaboration in the future here
Best,
Mario

mmmichalski59, of course Oddbods wouldn't sing under another username; too obvious
! Now you have put more strength to my "theory".
And of course that was meant as a compli; I admit I'm a fan of Finger's thingies.
mabian, ya gonna have a busy time; take a deep breath while you still can...
So Scoops is in the demolition business...
He sure did a good job !

I used tracks from file 1, file 2, one track from file 4 and used the name of the song provided with file 3.
