Peace, g
No, I don't, as they sound sick and twisted to me, (like setting 911 tapes to the Beer Barrel Polka), but you certainly must recognize that any musical work is open to interpretation, no? :hihi: Well, I interpreted your work as being analagous to a political cartoon. Might not be what you intended, but that is the risk we take when we write.

BTW, this IS an emotional issue for me. I have a 21 year old son set to leave shortly for a 12-18 month stint in Afghanistan while our Congress works to isolate him and his compatriots but fighting over the money required to support them. While I would love to know the absolute truth about all of this, I am, understandably I hope, more concerned with the safety of my son.

US troupes are in my prayers. I have a 15 year old son that will go someday. I raised a patriot. May both your son and mine be safe.

Mello, you are such a rebel! "For the contest this month, you are asked to use ONLY ONE of the four files provided"...

I have to say it is good to be back, raising hell and moralizing. I have missed all of my kvr clowns/buds.

Where is one-to-many?

As i told Scoopsi in a pm, his rules are paradox: We should use only one of the files as a basis of our track, but we're allowed to add something (and there it's not forbidden to add something from the other files). My basis was file 1 and i added some from file 2 and a bit of file 4 and moreover i used file 3's songtitle.

One two many could only use files 3 and 4, everything else would be autologically disqualified.

The rules are somewhat paradoxical, I agree. There's a section in the FAQ where changing notes is called a no-no. What I had tried in some of my initial explorations, though, was changing some notes in certain tracks, while leaving other tracks completely intact. I figured something along the lines of your logic: the changes were the "added" part. It certainly does seem to fit in the rules at the same time it violates them.

As for file 3, it technically has many titles out there:
* Czech: Škoda lásky
* Danish: Hvor er min Kone
* Dutch: Rats, kuch en bonen
* English: Beer Barrel Polka
* Finnish: Tonttujen joulupolkka
* French: Frida oum Papa
* German: Rosamunde
* Hungarian: Sej-haj Rozi
* Italian: Rosamunda
* Japanese: Beer Taru polka
* Polish: Banda
* Spanish: Polka del Barril
* Swedish: Ut i naturen
The original title, before it had lyrics, was Modřanská polka.

Good observation, EVE and thanks for the review!

Three days ago i prepared the files for the first listening (i didn't know, file 3 was Rosamunde). First i got some weird noises with some synth-sounds, but then came 'Rosamunde'. Liqih was listening with me here (now he's back in Italy) and we had quite a laugh with this file: The german song has the same title as the italian one. We said almost simultaneously: "It's Rosamunde!" and then....oh my oh my...tears began to fall...... .

Aw, if one-to-many were in fact "one-two-many" that would be true. But because "to" is a preposition, we'd better allow him 2,3, and 4.

may your mello be mellicious.

tears of joy and laughter and today more tears of laughter, because of the submissions.... .

This is what happens when we bring up emotive political crap in the contest thread.

Someone ELSE might say that congress is NOT trying to isolate anyone -- but put an end to that idiotic war. The BEST way for your son to be safe is for them to call it off. If congress votes not to fund it, then the generals must send them home -- not keep them there and then bitch about running out of bullets.

I can't believe that anyone swallows that garbage the congress is trying to get soldiers killed -- what a lame, weak, stupid argument.

Aren't you the same Gag that got all pissy and left when someone decided to put some *dirty* words or some other silly thing in their music that you took personally and started moralising us all to death?

C'mon -- concentrate on the music -- no politics, no religion and no moralising -- or you'll get ANOTHER pie-in-the-face award...

;)

adj, you almost sound like a guy named xander. Anybody that thinks the politics, religion, and moralizing have no place with music, doesn't know anything about music. At least the music I enjoy. I'll take what comes from being a critical thinker, and I like pie. Make it cherry.

Not everyone needs to have positive feedback, but it is usually nice when mixed with a portion of reality.
