exactly how would that work? You've got 4 samples playing simultaneously through one single effect engine. The motion recording affects the effect parameters. Are you wanting an effect bypass per pad, or something else?that you could have at least 1 per sample,
That would be interesting.and could call up autmation patches from a bank on the fly quick and easy.
I think you've got your expectations the wrong way round from Korg's intentions, though. Its an effects pad with sampling, not a drumpad with effects. I really think you should be looking at something else for that, until they bring out a KP with per-pad effects engines, which I doubt is gonna happen soon.and I hate having drum samples loaded and effected by the same effect as everything else so i wish for more flexibility than this global effecting also.
Alternately, if you need the interface stylee, just use the KP as a controller, and do the stuff you actually want via a laptop or something. Although maybe a PadKontrol might suit you better?
If you want full-featured sampling, the KP3 aint where to look. If you want those effects in conjunction with sampling, maybe get a couple of mini-KPs and a second MPC or somesuch?

Just watched more of Ghostradioshow's videos. Damn, I bet he does whole sets live like that. He's really good--the hardware doesn't seem to be in the way of what he wants to do. Very fluid moves. Plus, his accomplished level of musicianship is obvious. Thanks for turning me on to that, stale bread!

You can record motions as long as you want in your DAW and then your DAW will play them back. It works in Live 6. I just stumbled accross this while messing around.I guess in a way that is what i mean, i wish very much that the motion recording was for more than a few seconds

that would be seriously good

Yes, any parameter you assign the Kaoss pad to can be edited and the KP3 will follow.

come back riley come back, we're so close
thanks W.R. that is food for thought, I know i'm trying to make it do somethin it's not suppose to but that's usualy more fun..... I really love minimal production and I think I just have to get a handle on this thing. from the vids that denkitribe is doing
it seems like the kp3 is the perfect minimal setup. I stayed up all night mastering the surface features now i guess i'll have to dig deeper.

The pad can have one of 8 'patterns' assigned to it, determining the way it responds (ie 8 vertical strips, 8 horizontal, X->Y, spiral etc). There's also a Pad Touch and Pad Assign for each 'zone' in that pattern. The 'Pad Touch' can have a MIDI note assigned to it, with start and release velocity, and it can be a toggle or momentary switch. It can alternately sendMeloday wrote:anyone?Meloday wrote:can someone tell me if the individual cells on the pad can be configured to send note on/off messages?

MIDI Start, Continue or Stop messages.
(Also, the 8 top buttons, hold button, and the 4 sample buttons can send CCs, Note values and MIDI Start, Continue or Stop messages)
The FXDepth control and the slider only send CCs.
Any other controls are unassignable.

whyterabbyt is correct about the pad and 8 patterns instead of CC for each cell. Now that it has usb and a software interface, mayge the can change functions with new revs.?

this will sound really dense - I just want to be sure - that the kp3 sample buttons and the 8 "bits of sample" buttons all receive midi messages and respond to themwhyterabbyt wrote:The pad can have one of 8 'patterns' assigned to it, determining the way it responds (ie 8 vertical strips, 8 horizontal, X->Y, spiral etc). ie so I can sequence sample abuse
its just SOS seemed to say that it couldnt although they were talking about sample recording - so I could have misunderstood them
