Does anyone know when the next set of bug fixes will be coming out?

Amazing what you can do with the preset "Instant Strings":

(first clean version of the preset, after that with eq, chorus, reverb and compressor)

Good example of how you can transform and sweeten a sound with some audio engineering... shows that you don't need the latest and greatest plugin to get a cool sound. :)

I often fancied trying to buy an ESQ1 in days gone by (before VSTs). Never really properly heard one, but the specs and reviews made it sound just like the sort of thing I was after. Now after hearing the demos and playing with this plugin I realize that I really should have tried harder to get hold of one in the past... I think that, like the Oscar and MS20, it has its own certain character which makes it sound special.

This link seems to be dead...

Thanks
I too would like to know where I can get these patches?! Any help would be much appreciated. :help:

Mad Jack,
The link below is still active (I just downloaded the bank last night)

SQ8L Banks

edit: Included link....Also much appreciation goes to tomg for his early work on this effort ;)
Muchas Gracias to both 1-2-Many and tomg!

edit: removed original link which was bad... and fixed my Ctrl+X errors...

Thank you very much! :)

That lot should keep me busy for a while... ;)

Thanks for bumping the banks link, Yagushi!

Well, I've finally managed to work my way through this thread and I really have to thank everyone that's contributed to it. :D

Thanks to Chris Huelsbeck, AdmiralQuality and djsubject for sharing their musical compositions. Really enjoyed listening to them. :)

Special thanks go to 1-2-Many and tomg for their tireless work in sorting all those patches out. I've still got so many to audition! Oh, and also Yagushi for sourcing the link for me. Cheers guys! :D

And, of course, extra special thanks to Siegfried (and Rainer Buchty) for making all this possible. Great work! You can count on me to buy the full version when it's released.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot! Thanks to Convolve for starting this thread, and therefore bringing our attention to this great synth! 8)

Apologies to anyone I've missed!

It's just a pity it took me so long to pick up on this thread... Actually, I didn't show any interest in it at first because I saw SQ80 but thought SQ1.... Doh!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I missed this thread for the longest time because I figured "it's just an emulation of a lame Ensoniq I'm not very familiar with"... but once I heard it, I thought "oh, I totally know that synth!" (or at least the sound)

I'm really digging this VSTi right now because some of the pads and brass perfectly exemplify that cheesy 80's horror movie soundtrack vibe... I went to see Grindhouse a couple of days and Robert Rodriguez totally ripped-off John Carpenter's synth stylings for his film "Planet Terror" so now I'm inspired to do a little plagiarizing of my own...

Wow- fantastic free sounds here- thanks very much for sharing....!

For anyone that's interested, I discovered this retro-review of the Ensoniq SQ80 on Sound-on-Sounds site. The date of the article is actually closer to the release of the original synth than it is to today....but I don't think that makes it a less interesting read.

As with most freeware goodies, it took me like 6 months to notice it (yeah i'm lame like that).
That's now probably on my top 5 favorite vsti...

snap, i just realized there are no params available through automation, is this coming up?

Post

I may be wrong but I think that will be available in the SQ8X version which isn't out yet.

in the meantime, you can assign CCs to the various params on the mod page of the synth. limited, but better than nothing.
