Midi file 1
I turned the piano into a violins, a viola and a Cello.
The guitare track became another volin and the synth bass track an acoustic double bass.
There are also an acoustic guitare, 2 voice parts and some percussions.
(I had to modify some velocity, note length etc... to make them sound more "acoustic".
I used the swing tracktion midi transformation and turn up the tempo. )
Thanks Charles Baudelaire for the lyrics...

Here is what I came with using File 1. It was a challenge to work on music outside of my normal comfort zone.
Arrangement was edited to accomodate the 2:00 limit.
Sonar 5.2
Drums BFD
Guitars, Madolin, Strings, Tambourine SampleTank 2
Bass, Lead and Choir Wusikstation
Edited and mastered in Abobe Audition 2

everyone and their mother is using file1!
Including me!
I used quite a few vsts, but mostly synth1, polyiblit, and taurus. All in energyXT 1.4
Percussion sounds from Reason.
I invented a bassline part, took the original parts for the strings and for the harmonica and acoustic guitar, and threw everything else away.
I hope you enjoy this empeethree, or for the high and mighty audiophiles the oggvorbis.

There have been so many superb full mixes of file#1 that I decided to strip it down to a 'string quartet' style to support my (usual) penny-whistle.
I present:
The Offwallski Chamber Ensemble,
with soloist Offo Walldorf
playing
Along The Road.
http://www.kara-moon.com/forum/index.ph ... attach=113
The ensemble would like to thank their sponsors for this project:
Ugo String Theory
Krakli StringZ
Synth 1
and Dasample GlaceVerb .
Not forgetting Vittorio Scoopsicana for hiring the concert hall
and Kara-Moon.com for wonderful hosting.

It's been a year since I've participated... guess I'm due.
Get off the Road
Couldn't quite decide upon an overall theme for this one, so I chose to string three together.
Two minutes comes awfully quick... sorry if the last movement sounds like a bit of a hackneyed rush-job!
PS: It ain't much like the original, but I did like some of the elements within the original midi file. (please don't dq me!)
Cheers.

As you might expect, I'm up for a little Midery-Pokery..
No suprizes, this is all Krakli stuff (apart from drums), and I had to do some cruel pruning to get it to fit the 2 min mark, I'm not entirely sure that some of the joins aren't showing, but I won't win anyways so its all in fun..
Anyway as soon as I heard File1, this type of sound came into my head:
I've called it Mike LeftField
I hope that you enjoy.
For those that are interested, it was using.
A couple of StringZ
My new Organ Thingy (out soon)
A couple of Richman2
Some FLStudio drum sounds mucked up so that they sound more like folky drums

been a few months since i last entered...this uses parts from file#4 (the stuff on MIDI channels 3, 9 and 11), the song came from looping those parts and then adding to it, i hope it's within the rules!
a song for spring:
lyrics
spring has come to the pond
now there's clouds of
inky black wriggly tadpoles
i'll be cheering them on
as they metamorphose
into frogs
first come the hindlegs
the forelegs are next
then tails atrophy
til stumps
are all that remain
and it's always been the same
frogs are friends of mine
and frogs are good
frogs are needed
in your neighbourhood
spring has come to the pond
now there's clouds of
inky black wriggly tadpoles
i'll be cheering them on
as they metamorphose
as they morph into frogs

BEFORE YOU LISTEN: I would like like to remind you of what the man himself said:
"Alot of questions could be raised as to what consitutes "basis". Well, I'm not going to impose alot of rules on this. I ask that you be as creative as possible with these files. Clipping, looping, edditing midi attibutes are all fair game."
With that in mind, I present: Heartache (File 2, Channel 3)
http://www.myguitaronline.com/tunes/070 ... rtache.mp3
Made with: FL Studio 6
Intruments: Synth1VST and drum samples from 808's, 909's, 505's and a CR8000.
Effects:
Fruity: Soft Clipper, Delay, Delay Bank, Reverb, Flanger and Peak Controller.
Non-Fruity: mdaDetune and mgTriggergate.
Thankyou to Scoops for the hosting
I really like semi-colons, dont I...

I used File No.3
Lyrics
I got no time for charity
I got no time to give
It's all too much trouble
For me to bother with
I got no time for jesus
I got no time for god
No time to read the bible
I'm busy with my job
I got no time for morals
I got no time to care
My time is far too precious
I've got no time to spare
I got no time for feelings
No time for tenderness
I haven't got a minute
For any happiness
I got no time for loving
I got no time for peace
I'm too busy working
To do just as I please
I got no time for fighting
I got no time for war
There's no time like the present
To earn a little more
Midi - EZ Drummer, Kompakt (Accordian/Banjo), TTS (Tuba)
Real - Mandolin, Ukelele, Bamboo Flute, Spoons, Jaws Harp, Feet, Hands, Mouth

I almost passed this contest by for lack of time, but after two weeks I had the arrangement worked out in my head and figured it was worth trying.
I used Home Studio 4, SampleTank 2.2, Edirol VSC, and a bunch of freebee effects downloaded from KVR. Special thanks to Scoops for hosting.
Rhapsody in Beer
A tribute to George
Without whom jazz might never have been accepted as an art form, rock music may have died unborn, Elvis, Jimi, Janice, Morrison and Lennon would still be alive, and who knows what else!
