My friend and I are trying to do a performance in a park with no outlets for electricity. We are trying to power 2 keyboards & 3 samplers. Has anyone had experience doing something like this, and can you reccomend a portable power source/battery that could work?

You ned to rent a generator designed for entertainment, not construction.

COntact a local sound company, they can point you in the right direction as to who in your area rents entertainment generators.
Only if your gear runs of 12Volts DC!!!sloworm wrote:use teh generators they use to charge car batteries....or get solar panels...the latter is a joke, the earlier is an option...

Dude check your local Home Depot for small portable generators (plus they rent em).. There really lite (well ok)! Just depends on what kind of juice you need.. We powered a small poweramp, 2 tables, cd decks a mixer, a laptop and some of granny lamps with 5550 Watts..

You risk damage to your gear if the generator is not designed for entertainment power. Construction generators are not well regulated, and can easily damage your gear with too much voltage.
Most importantly, you want to make sure the generator is properly grounded, which required driving a ground rod at least 4 feet into the ground, and connecting the generators ground to it. DO NOT OPERATE A GENERATOR THAT IS NOT GROUNDED IN THIS METHOD, YOU RISK BEING ELECTRICUTED!!!!!!!

I once played a show in a shack with a generator borrowed from the Fire Department. It went pretty well, we had the generator in another room, and with the band going you couldn't hear it.
