Re.: elysia, sure, that's logical but I expect their secrets to be _far_more_ pricey for the one-off builder than f.e. that's circuits: simply because of the fact that discrete solutions _require_ matched parts and testing/debugging. No other (!) way around it. That _can_ become epensive for a one-two, say --four unit builder. Matching transistors and diodes alone ...

Rather build a M/S compressor, it will be cheaper one-unit build ... and not so much pressure to get matched channels - as long as it sounds good. It's like - 4 5532's and some resistors more ? Maybe someone could squeeze an unbalancer into that as well ... speaking out of my butt now. Been some time since I did actual soldering.

Gotta go now.

mmm soldering.... I built a 8mb RAM module for my old Akai950 sampler once....
...and controlled a pinball machine with a vic64... logic circuits is like programming... only
that it is hardware... ohh I made a 8 bit sampler for the vic64 too...

Heh, yup!

But I like switching things up on occasion, Forgetting the rules and just CRUSH!. I know it looks bad, but you can get some decent sounds on occasion...but plenty of time wasted trash also :( Such are the pros/cons of unlearning yourself

I think its far from text book, but the result I got with this is sharp and snappy.

 what are those red lights??? No!!! heh.
Hi Duffy, this does...well kinda. To the best of my knowledge, you can add eq before or after a compressor according to taste but limiters are usually at top of fx chain (and usually by themselves)

Its just a little play around I had of which I got a good snappy
drum sound with.

have toys, will play. :)

Really? I never would've thought that...wouldn't it be counter productive to limit and then boost (eq)?

I would say limiter last; I prefer EQ -> compress -> Limit.

Your path there is perfectly reasonable with drums. Hell, if there's one thing that's true, you can do anything you want, need or have to do to make those drums sound good! What did the guy from fxpansion say? Drum mixing is a bit of "dark art"...so true...

I also would like to thank you, Daniel, for this great compressor!!

Since GreaseTube (another one of my favorites) seemed to be meant as an amp sim I'd like to suggest that TLs-2095-LA would make a great component to a new amp sim!

I would consider either GreaseTube or TLs_SaturatedDriver to be great candidates for the preamp job, this new TLs-2095-LA a great candidate for the poweramp position, then it should go into a convolution cab sim using IRs (like Boogex) then something like TLs-Pocket_Limiter to keep it all sane.

Your VSTs are some of the only ones around that do the spongey, slip slidey/greasey tweed thing - and I bet you could pull off an awesome amp sim!! I'll whip up one out of your existing stuff and the new compressor plus Boogex and my favorite cab impulses tonight and check it out. I already know it'll rock hard, though (already tried the new compressor with ReValver MK II) !!

It all depends. Im not usually too fussed how I do it. it how it sounds.

e.g. somtimes I will put my pants on first. other times I will start will a shirt.

The end result is always dope!

cheers.

Nice, and considering I omitted the cymbals, hihats etc, this is probably more true.

thanks Duffy :D

Just tried TLs-2095-LA and its pretty damn good if you ask me... I'm looking forward to using it properly with a real world mix and having a real good play.

Damn though it really can squeeze like a mofo!! ffffantastical!!

ddummer/Daniel,

is there ever a chance for a sample rate scaling update for the Tls Saturated Driver? I've been trying to match it by hand (attack and release) and while I can at least attempt to get close, it's obviously a matter of adjusting some internal parameters and I can't touch those. The compression just sounds much worse at 88.2khz.

:(

Yes. I'll foool around with it to night and you just made yourself a tester so I'll PM you
or something...
