One of the strong points of the new Samplelord sample player is the ease of layering sounds and save them as a multi. I took samples from various demos of our sample sets, converted them to Samplelord format and created 18 multis based on them.
Download the multis and the samples from our page on the Kara-Moon website, it's in the Developpers section.

Please refer to the readme for more details. The download is 32 MB.

Thanks Zvon! I'm just curious... could you explain in more detail what it is that you mean when you say that Samplelord can "layer" sounds? Are you just saying that it is easy to set up and save multis?
Thanks,

P.S. I'm at work right now, so I am unable to download and try things out to see what it is that you mean. I'm sure that I will be able to do this later though.

I think that it might be easy to trigger each patch by one midi channel. something i was hoping Directwave would have : ( I don't own samplelord but if you look at the screen shots it looks like you can changed the patches midi channels easily.

It is indeed easy to set up and save multis but by layers I mean, like mw said, to have different sounds triggered by the same MIDI channel.mw wrote:I think that it might be easy to trigger each patch by one midi channel. something i was hoping Directwave would have : ( I don't own samplelord but if you look at the screen shots it looks like you can changed the patches midi channels easily.
Also the sounds can be in any of the formats that Samplelord can read and they can be located anywhere on your computer.

This set is now available from our page on the Kara-Moon website, in the Developpers section. I have updated the first post with the new link.

Has anyone tried the multis?

Hey Zvon, I haven't yet tried them. I plan to though. I have dial-up, so downloads are slow. I DO look forward to them though.
Also, regarding layering, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that the multis are created through the control of the channels?
In other words, it is my understanding that a traditional multi setup is 16 channels that can allow 16 different instruments to be played at the same time through different channels.
You are saying (I think) that if one wanted to, one could set all of the multis to channel 1, and all of the multis would play at the same time like one big 16 layer sound? If that's true, that sounds REALLY cool!!! I don't know why I never considered it before!
Are all other sample players (that allow multiple setups) not able to do this? It would seem that they too should be able to do this... What makes Samplelord shine in this way? (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Samplelord--I just want to understand.)
Thanks again!

Correct on both counts.audiojunkie wrote: Also, regarding layering, if I understand you correctly, you are saying that the multis are created through the control of the channels?

That's right, or any combinations of channels, for instance you could have 5 layers on channel 1, 4 on channel 2 and 7 on channel 3.audiojunkie wrote: You are saying (I think) that if one wanted to, one could set all of the multis to channel 1, and all of the multis would play at the same time like one big 16 layer sound? No not all, some do but are more complicated to set up.audiojunkie wrote: Are all other sample players (that allow multiple setups) not able to do this? Also I said in my post above that the sounds can be in any of the formats that Samplelord can read and they can be located anywhere on your computer. To be more precise, one multi can combine sounds that are in different formats and in different locations on your hard drive(s).

I tried playing with it last night, and I noticed that there are port numbers too. I tried setting things up so that I can play multiple files on one channel, but I still only got one sound. I'm sure that I have to set things up in a certain way with the ports in order to get a single layered sound, but I can't seem to figure out how to play that sound with only one controlling device.
For example, lets say that I want to program this multi layered sound with only one piano roll... I can't figure out how to set the various ports for one piano roll channel, so that the multiple sounds are played simultaneously. I can see how it can be done by copying the same piano roll and setting up multiple instances of it, and then assigning them to each port separately, but I can't see how to set everything up to play a single layer easily.
I hope what I'm saying makes sense.
Thanks again!

I guess I'm a little confused on how to set things up so that one channel controls them all at the same time when using a piano roll.

P.S. I use FLStudio 7.x if that helps.

The port column is for muting/unmuting the channels. Use the channels (chn) column, click on a channel number and a context menu opens where you can select any number (1 to 16) for each channel.
