I probably didn't really study TB4004 closely enough. I chose the kind of pulsewidth because i felt it was the most charming one. I guess i should add the original TB4004 too - this is easy after having seen your very clear demonstration of what the original does. I'll add this to the TB4005 (keeping both)

Btw. the TB4005 is not an attempt to make a 100% exact copy. It's more meant as a kind of upgrade inspired by analog gear. The filters are a different algorithm, some details about the oscillators are also different, and the different timings are probably also not spot-on.

This one, Xhip synth + fxs, SQ-80 and a few others got me much closer to the sound i've been craving than any other big buck vst i've layed my hands on...

i think it's because some of the commercial stuff is catering to a different audience. there seems to be this mindset by the comm devs that it has to do every single thing the competition does. with some exceptions like emulations and romplers, of course.

it depends on your needs and how much time you want to devote to crafting your own sound entirely from nothing you know? and what kind of music you want to make depends too. traditional music like folk or whatever isn't going to find an immediate use for virusy-leads, which is very popular in electronic music.

i feel you though. the ones you mentioned are great. SQ8L is such a wicked plugin. xhip needs no mention it's implicitly great around these parts.

it's a catch me. if you really are looking for "just one" to do it all, it's really going to be hard to find one that balances all your needs by itself.

some get close, but i've never found a single one to take care of it all myself.

this little bass plug is going to live next to taurus and claw.

Claw never did anything for me, but Taurus is teh jewel. I agree, this is a nice complement. There are, what, 3 or 4 great 303-like Buzz machines. Great to see one of them as a VST. This is truly a wonderful one.
