I would have posted in hardware but no one reads hardware posts for some reason. I rented the Edirol R4 this past winter and had a blast with it. You can record 4 channels with phantom power simultaniously on a 60gig hardrive @ 16 bit or two channels at 24. you can also record in stereo by using two mics etc. But the coolest feature was its size. I was hoping someone had the inside scoop on some other portables existing/ comming out; its a relatively new market and so I expect prices to drop and new innovations to pop out.

Also I wanted to know the advantages and dissadvantages of using a laptop with a firewire mic interface rather than the edirol...and maybe what you guys think the best firewire interfaces are...basically im looking to invest in a portable recording solution and I just what the best, :help: :hihi:
