I use an audigy 2 soundcard for my studio and when I record through the breakout box into Live the mic input comes out stereo. I have bought a laptop and loaded Live 6 onto and have bought a Tapco Link USB external 24 bit 48 /96 soundcard. I do exactly the same re inputs in Live etc but when I record it only comes out mono. I know that it's a stupid question and Tapco as yet don't have a forum. Are the inputs just mono or is my mic lead mono when it should be stereo. Everything is the same setup wise but I'm wondering if these inputs are just mono. I assume if that's the case I can simply copy the mono file and make it stereo.
Any help gratefully received from the baffled Cosy Pete

It's normal for a mic to be recorded as a mono track, since it's a mono sound source. So actually it was the Audigy that did things wrong
Can't you select in the host to record only left or right as a mono track?

Dear Bertkoor,
thanks for the help and being gentle. So I'm doing things right. In Live I can select just input A and it comes through great. So to make it stereo I would just copy the part and duplicate it.
If I have a stereo keyboard would that come in stereo I assume.
Thanks for the help and link to the mackie site - much appreciated
Cheers Cosy Pete

No, you don't copy or duplicate mono tracks. Leave them as they are. Use the panning! If you have it panned dead centered but still it's only at one side, then you still have a stereo WAV with only one channel. Dig into advanced properties of Live (I don't have Live) until you found the way to fix it...
