MOTU 2408 question

i'm looking for a line > adat lightpipe contverter to use as the front end to my Emu 1212 card...i was looking at the Alesis AI3, but they are hard to come by...it was suggested that the 2408 does stand-alone conversion to/from adat, and they seem readily available and inexpensive used...can anyone confirm this application to be the case?
