needed: audio looper vsti

Hi,
I got an app, Looptrax, which is a nice little audio loop toll. However, it is not a vsti but a standalone app and it is discontinued by the developer. So I am searching a VSTi which can do the same:
a) sync audio loops to any (host) bpm preserving pitch
b) offer different trigger modes: 1) one shot, 2) play until key release and 3) loop until next key hit
c) velo sensitivity
d) gui in which the keys/pads can be labeled so that I know what loop I am triggering
note: I do not search a slicer, but a vsti based on time stretching. I got NI Intakt, but it is now also discontinued and it does not have the possibility to label keys nor does it offer a trigger mode 3 (loop until next key hit). also, the time-stretch algo is not so great in Intakt. I also got Kontakt2, and with scripting one have all the features except from d. What is more, kontakt2 is overkill for this and the the gui is less than adequate for this purpose.
do you any existing vsti which can do all that? or is there any developer who is planning to fill this gap?
cheers, akj

Well, you could give the freeware HighLife sampler a shot. It does not offer all your requested features but may be useful.

Are you talking about this one?

Not exactly the same but you can try Devine Machine or LiveSlice...

do you mean the edison in fl studio? I also own fl studio, but I find fl studio not a suitable tool for my task. what I really would like to see is something with a battery-like gui (loop pads which one can label), but with all the features mentioned above. And the word "all" is really important here. because expect from the gui, kontakt2 is able to do everything. But what does it help if it is able to do that, if working with it is just a pain because of an unsuitable gui?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the "loop until next key hit" will be the toughest function to find in something that meets the other criteria.
For example, in hardware, I have an Akai S20 which does the loop until next key thing, but it has no pitch-preserving timestretch. I also have an Akai MPC500, which has timestretch, but for some reason Akai has gotten rid of the loop until next key function. Which is irritating.
Have you played around with Ableton Live at all? It doesn't run as a plugin, but I'm reasonably sure it'll cover all of those functions.
Liveslice is another option, but I think both timestretch and MIDI release functionality are only in the current private beta version (at least I know timestretch is, and I vaguely remember Jacob suggesting MIDI off would be).

shaman,
using the latch script K2 has all functionality except key labeling and, as pointed out, the gui is not suited for my purposes. Same applies for Dirctwave. It's really strange that there is no audio loop specialized VSTi with a usable GUI which has all these features. The small app I got (Looptrax) is GUI-wise much better than anything else, but the strethc algo could be better and it's not a VST. I played around with the live demo, but did not really like it (concept wise). I remember that I found older version better (not as bloated). and, as you said, it's not a vst. so my hope is on liveslice. actually, I did not no that is going to get a time-stretch mode. this would be very cool.

are you serious? what is more, I swore never to invest in NI products again, since they discontinued Intakt which really is the closest thing I know that would fit my purpose. as soon as NI decides to have a product which really includes all the features (a-d) they I might change my mind, not before. But I can't believe it: no vst available which meets my demands (and I guess I am not alone).

Right, it only alters the sample base frequency when the Sync button is used.AKJ wrote:thanks George, just checked HighLife, but it does not even seem to have automatic time-streching. or I am missing something?

have a look at this thread i started a few weeks ago. i was looking for the same thing:shamann wrote:I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the "loop until next key hit" will be the toughest function to find in something that meets the other criteria.

also, if that doesn't work, depending on what looper you use, you may just get away with setting it to mono (if it has that choice) and sending it a sustain cc (cc 64).

Intakt was the only loop player with a true time stretching
(http://www.zplane.de/showPage.php?SPRAC ... products11)
I was also looking for a perfect loop player vsti a few weeks ago, finally the best way to go seems to be
* ableton live in rewire
* energy xt2 when it will be release as a vsti.
99 % of the loop player vsti are slicers. And 99 % of the apps which are using a true time stretching are some sequencer/vst host (samplitude,Xt2,Sonar etc).[/quote]

This is why i use battery and why it would be the closest thing you are looking for. sorry this is not a perfect world and you can't get every single feature you need in one vsti. autolooping in a vsti is heaven sent, not many can do it in a vsti.AKJ wrote:are you serious? what is more, I swore never to invest in NI products again, since they discontinued Intakt which really is the closest thing I know that would fit my purpose. as soon as NI decides to have a product which really includes all the features (a-d) they I might change my mind, not before.
