Looking for a sound, don't really know how to describe it

Maybe more dependant on effects rather than synthesised sounds.
But anyway, Im looking for a kinda sound which will be a drum/percussion. Like a kick but without the oomph and boomp. Sounds more like an explosion underwater, without the power, so it sounds muted, lo-fi. Maybe a bit like thunder in a distance or an earthquake.
I'm thinking it could be a concert kick drum in a really big hall, reverbed to the max with a bit of overdrive on it. Haven't tried it, cos I dont know where to get a concert drum sample.

Run any base sample through a reverb set at 100% wet, EQ to taste...

what BertKoor said, but maybe add a bit of noise there too.
Cakewalk by Bandlab / FL Studio
Squire Stratocaster / Chapman ML3 Modern V2 / Fender Precision Bass
Formerly known as arke, VladimirDimitrievich, bslf, and ctmg. Yep, those bans were deserved.

Or take a synth with noise generator, set the (low-pass) filter at a very low frequency, adjust the ADSR to taste...

Alternatively you could use a long sample of just about anything (atmospheric pads are good), timestretch it to the max (slower tempo approx 10%), drop the pitch a couple of octaves, EQ it (drop everything above about 150hz, or as BertKoor put it "EQ to taste"), and run it through some very very wet reverb (canyon, auditorium, or some other big space type reverb).
Not sure if that's handy, but if not it's a nice trick to get some rumbling thunder type noises.

Actually, unless you're looking for a digitized sound I'd ignore the timestretch from my previous post. Just drop the pitch a couple or a few octaves etc. You get a more natural thunder type noise this way.
