I put "other" being nomad bluetube drv-2080. Why.......I dunno  I do like this verb and I own it.....but I wanted to ask some questions please.....

a. Altiverb would be the "quintessential" verb........but then again, it's the quintessential price  btw, is it a cpu hog?

b. The artsacoustics has many happy customers here.....are any of you intelmac users? If so, do you notice a difference between ppc and intel? (I have found many, so just wondering)

c. Am I the only one who thinks verbs are more "dime a dozen" and frequently don't add properly in the daw arena....er......rather take up "space" so to speak?

While going through verbs, I noticed SpinAudio, makers of RoomVerb M1 and M2 are now out of business...

Just thought I'd mention it

It's very much a CPU hog but then again, it also does much more than an average reverb.

Wow, Im surprised at the results of the poll. Apparently ArtsAcoustic and CSR are among the most preferred reverbs.

I am surprised that WizooVerb W2 scored not as high. By reading some of the older threads in the forum it seemed that the WizooVerb would have been the winner.

I'm thinking we should do another poll, but do a "pre-poll" so most of the contenders are included. We could even use something like Google Docs to compile and collaborate a list.

I know: it's really geeky. But for some reason, I like it. :scared:

Interesting... not true in my case at all. Using v6 AU, I'm continually amazed at how light it is on the cpu.

The problem with Wizoo verb is that it's impulses are extremely high quality but that doesn't mean that it always works in a mix. Sometimes a "bad", in a good way, grainy reverb is needed (like the Lexicon 480L for instance). Ultimate density and realism is NOT always desired.

I would say that the ultimate reverb combination is Arts Acoustic, CSR, WizooVerb 5 and Variverb for spice. If you have an UAD card then also make sure you get the plate (which is awesome indeed).

That's just my 2 cents..

Cheers!

I agree with bmanic.

In addition, I found the algortihmic part of w2 not that impressive. By far not so flexible like ArtsAcoustic or CSR. So the "quality" of w2 reduces imo to a "good sample libary", but nothing really more, maybe the HDIR feature. But hey, it's still #3 in the poll! ;-)

I think, the "ultimate reverb" collection is ArtsAcoustic, CSR or any Lexicon Reverb >= PCM90, Wizooverb or any other good convolution reverb.

Btw, that is what I like most with ArtsAcoustic, that it's not just an imitation of an existing reverb, it's quiet unique and not so easily replaced by another reverb...

Indeed. I'm still on Altiverb 5.x (vst). Maybe AU version is lighter on cpu? I'm able to instantiate 4 Altiverbs for mixdown purposes but only if I don't have much other effects going at the same time. I'm on AMD 3200+ single core, 2GB ram.
