Okay, so here is the dillema I am having. I have a M-Audio Luna Microphone going into a Behringer Shark DSP1010 Microphone Preamp going into my ESI ESP1010 Midi Interface going into my p.c. I hear this strange buzzing noise that disappears whenever I touch the metal where the XLR cable connects to the microphone. Does anyone know how to remedy this problem? Thanks in advance for all of your help!

No, because the interface has no pre-amp phantom power. I need to buy a seperate optional power supply for that to work.Audio~Geek wrote:can you connect the mic direct to the interface? Still noise?

I managed to solve the problem without too much more hassle, thanks for your replies. It turns out the XLR input on my audio interface isn't grounded without using the phantom power supply. I simply adapted the XLR to 1/4" analog and plugged it into the 1/4" analog input on my audio interface. This won't affect the sound quality in a negative way, will it?

I think it won't indeed, provided the used adapter is OK...LD.50 wrote:I simply adapted the XLR to 1/4" analog and plugged it into the 1/4" analog input on my audio interface. This won't affect the sound quality in a negative way, will it?
