The audio demos on their site sound lovely though...
Oh, I must have missed em, I'll check it out again.

Those spacemen think the world's disgrace, and me, I agree - I've been living in the place. I'm a believer, a 24-hour fanatic: THIS IS THE VOICE OF AUDIO-AQUATIC.

It's very much a CPU hog but then again, it also does much more than an average reverb.
A-ha.........thank you for responding :) Makes mucho sense

Interesting... not true in my case at all. Using v6 AU, I'm continually amazed at how light it is on the cpu.
Indeed. I'm still on Altiverb 5.x (vst). Maybe AU version is lighter on cpu? I'm able to instantiate 4 Altiverbs for mixdown purposes but only if I don't have much other effects going at the same time. I'm on AMD 3200+ single core, 2GB ram.
Isn't v6 a free upgrade from v5?
The upgrade from 5 to 6 (basic) is free but AFAIK it won't work on Win2000. I'm planning to skip Win XP altogether and upgrade to Vista next, whenever that is. At that time I'll upgrade lots of other things as well, like Altiverb 6 XL (which isn't free upgrade). Or maybe there's even Altiverb 7 at that point already...
Ok, can I assume that this excellent high-end kick-ass verb will give different cpu results for different folks?

Yeah, there's a lot of options that all affect the CPU load. The IR used does seem to have some effect but the big difference comes from tweaking the reverb, ie changing the early reflections, tail length, eq, positioning in the imaginary room etc etc.

You can find lots of detailed info here.

Truly mind-boggling music! - New album out! - And a blog!

Just a note for Ableton users, try tweaking the Reverb that comes with Live, I managed to make it sound almost identical to CSR. Extremely flexible and under-rated verb in my opinion.

The Ableton verb is certainly nice as an effect on an individual instrument, but if using it one a full mix, bear in mind that it only has a mono output

Hey headquest :) Really ? I noticed it being a stereo verb, maybe I'm missing somethin ?

Best Regards

I'm going by the findings reported in this thread on the Ableton forum. See in particular the second post, from Angstrom...

Also this thread form the Live 6 beta forum.

I am not that great at tweaking reverbs but the presets on the so well rated CSR are not that great. In most of them the mix is turned like 100 % so when you use the reverb on an instrument, the instrument looses loudness, character, and basically everything. So CSR might be great but only if you are great at tweaking knobs. I find ArtsAcoustic much better in the presets aspect.

Post

You could try turning down the wet/dry mix

25% might give you a better idea of how the verb will sound in a mix. 100% settings are designed for when you put the verb on an aux send/return channel (which is fairly standard).

But ArtsAcoustic defaults to 100% too... :? :nutter:

I have a hard time believing this, but please do share your presets.
