I am looking for a USB audio input device for my PC(s). I need 1/4" and XLR inputs (phantom power is optional). Stereo would be good but currently I have no need for it. Low latency (eg. ASIO) is a must.
I don't care about output from the computer to this device - my intent isn't for it to replace the system soundcard. I just need the input device for recording. I don't need MIDI as I have a separate interface for it.
My main computer is an HP Pavilion 7360n: 2.8GHz Pentium D dual-core, 2GB RAM. It runs Windows XP Media Center Edition. I also have a Dell D600 laptop running WinXP Pro with 1.5GHz Pentium-M and 512MB, but I'm less concerned about using that machine.
My software is Cakewalk Project5 and Adobe Audition 2.0.
I have been looking at the EMU 0202 and it seems to have what I need as well as pretty good user reviews. However, I've heard that some devices have trouble with Windows MCE (almost nothing explicitly supports it, but many things seem to work on it). Does anyone have any words of wisdom or recommendations?

says check out the E-MU 0202 or 0404, the Tascam US122L or 144 or the Edirol UA-101.
If Windows Media Center really turns out to be the bottleneck you can always install an OEM version or something of XP Home or Pro...
