Do you find youself with a hardisk full of softsyths and yourself getting lazy, by flicking trough presets and hoping for something to happen. Last night I disided to blow the dust of my JP800 and plug it back in. I forgot how good it sounded. Now i'm gonna get my other old kit out. As I find i get better results + to many softsynths take up to much CPU (even if you have super fast pc). Also wanting digital multitracker and new synth. Anyone any ideas on good cheep synth.(I thought novation)

1) Kurzweil k2000 (powerful V.A.S.T. synthesis)
2) Yamaha FS1R (the best FM out there)
3) Roland D50 (D550) (spacious waaaaaaaaarm pads)
4) Kawai K3M (DCO + analog filters ... great lowend)
5) Roland SH 101 (a really good mono analog)
6) Korg Polysix (a really good poly analog)

I did have an SH101 and a juno60.
I sold the off when I was A student. What a mistake. Got problems with my jp800 the sliders jump on the cutoff frequency.(to much abuse)Might try some contact cleaner. Thanks for advice.

Solution: Delete the presets and design every sound from scratch. Give your softsynths a chance before you totally discard them for hardware. Hardware is cool but so is software.

I've gone one step further lol, I've gone back to using Notator on the Atari St. I've just bought an Emu E5000 Ultra and another esq-1.

Hooking up all my analogs over midi to the Atari, and using my audiofire 12 as a mixng desk with Cubase 4.

4 uad-1 cards supplying an eq and compressor for each of the 12 tracks I'll be using onCubase 4. I'll also sync it all up over Smpte.

no, uninstall the ones you dont like and keep the vsts you do, dont cut your nose off to spite your face there is some good stuff out there, use both.

And using hardware gives mor cpu overhead for softsynths so you get the best of both worlds

I appreciate software more since i got some hardware cos i'm not watching the cpu all the time.And i was all set to switch

I've heard good things about the xiosynth if thats what your talking about.
