To be precise, I stripped the screwhole. I was turning the screws to raise the pickup, and apparently I turned it too far (although it felt like I still had some room left). I pulled the threading out of the hole in the pickup (it's plastic). So I guess I'm going to have to find a nut to fit it. Of course, that will probably make it impossible to adjust the pickup height without taking off the strings & pickguard. So before I go with the nut option, would anybody happen to have an ingenious alternative solution?

Hmmm, I had to look up "nutsert" -- it looks like it might work; thanks for the tip.
If I find a simple nut first, I might try just super-gluing the nut to the pickup; I think it might work well enough.

it should, but instead of super glue use the epoxy glue that comes in two tubes, you have to mix them and generally set using a much longer time. This is good because if you use super glue you might leave residue in the threads of the nuts. If you use epoxy you can glue it with the screw in the nut. As it starts to harden remove the screw, this will clean out the threads. When the screw tip is flush with the back of the nut (before completely removing it) use a razor blade to trim the extra epoxy off the back of the nut...this will allow the screw to pass through when adjusting the height.Peel wrote:Hmmm, I had to look up "nutsert" -- it looks like it might work; thanks for the tip.

From the pic it looks like it's a single coil, if it's a humbucker I have a quicker easier solution.

Hmmm, sounds like good advice. Yep, it's a single coil. I'll be attempting the repair tomorrow.

Well, for anyone who's interested, I asked at a guitar repair shop, and the owner/repair guy recommended simply filling the stipped hole with super glue, letting it set, and then poking a narrow hole through the solid glue & driving the screw through that. I was a little sceptical, but I tried it, & it works!
