And hot digeli darned I just made a major leap on a comp algo for a "la2a-ish" plug..
.. my programming is woking super right now... sadly my brain and the concept sleep have serious problems.. but it is soo fun!

One question/suggestion: if you plan to include "bass enhance" into your new project as well, could you perhaps provide "bandwidth" control as well?

Let me explain: in 2095 your bass enhance phase rotator centers @ ~200Hz, which is fine. It would (Imho) be sufficient to introduce just additional "bandwidth" control (that would control the frequency range over which the given phase shift occurs, or steepness for that matter, but wouldn't affect the center frequency) to provide _just_enough_ control for finetuning (less is more and 200Hz center imho doesn't need a special control, it's fine as is).

Again, that was just a thought. Personally, I can dial in several geeky "enhancing" phaseshifts with electriq, but it's more time consuming ...

I made a GUI mockup for the testing...

I seriously need something nice to look at while tweaking... I mean how would you
otherwise know if you hit the jackpot? Eye candy + good sound and you should be safe.

But I'm NOT going for a LA2A clone or emulation! Just wanna capture the soul of the concept.

it's very pretty.

but this is KVR. The Antress fiasco proved you shouldn't play with peoples preconceptions of what something should sound like. Stick in such an obvious LA-2A GUI to your plugin and half of the people will praise it as the best authentic LA clone since sliced bread and toasters, and the second half will be calling you a dick for trying to fool the other half.

NOBODY will remember you were actually just paying homage to design X from year Y.

Ie. change the color scheme and you'll be alright. remember to stick to warm colors since it's "vintage" and people will hear the change respectively.

I kid. I kid.

Either way, it's a Russian roulette.

You "mock" some famous GUI, and you are being accused of "copying", "illegalizing" or the best one "being like Antress"...

OR

You try and do something original but vaguely mention some well known or famous piece of equipment and again, two options : 1) you are highly praised and are the king of the world for a few days or weeks (world=KvR

)... 2) are being accused of "musical sound but flaky, useless and ridiculous GUI" (and I've HEARD that by some engineers, on some HIGHLY praised plugin around this place...)

Daniel, carry on doing what you do best.
No matter what, some will like, some won't. just like every other plugin out there (and yes, EVEN Antress...

)

We all seem to forget that the latest version of the Antress-compressors (Vintage-edition) was EXCELLENT. I hope he continues updating these babies
