Looking for a drum kit and also that big concert drum/kick sound you find in the wall of sound.

i think that sound is more about production than it is about the sounds themselves ...
..... so best to go back in time to Phil Spector's studio and watch out for his gun :D

I'm guessing theres no way to replicate this in a bedroom studio. Which is why I'm looking for samples. Maybe I should sample the beginning of Be My Baby :D

A lot of the power of it is reverb. Also, Hal Blaine (Spector's usual drummer) would play the snare and floor tom together to get that big sound.

Brian Wilson - who played at at least one Spector session - said Spector's musicians played as hard as possible. That's another key to the big sound.

Didn't they have like 2 drummers and 3 bass players and 5 guitarists at the same time? (For the Wall of sound thing)

Phylis Spectrus employed the echo chamber to create the wall of sound. Now, a room and later another one too, was built behind the studio which housed one speaker and microphone. The pointing of the gun was another one of Phylis's many technique's.

OT: That just reminded me of the melting faces in "Raiders of the lost ark" maybe there is a gif of that somewhere.

Does it help to know that Spector's Wall of Sound was Mono?
At the time he thought of Stereo as a novelty, a fad.

Not usually two drummers - I guess Hal Blaine was such a powerful drummer that it wasn't necessary - but often two pianos, several guitars, two basses (electric and acoustic), and many background vocalists. If you showed up at a Spector session, you were usually pressed into service.

All those parts (except strings, which were usually added later) would be played live in the tiny Gold Star Studio, with little or no acoustic separation.

That's one of the things that makes the Wall of Sound the Wall of Sound - signals are bleeding onto other mics and then being smeared with reverb and echo before being mixed into good ol' monophonic.
