ever more reason for you to just exist this thread. you can't do that gracefully anymore (or anything else at KVR for that matter either), but you could still prove your above point.
sorry but that sentence doesn't parse to me, come again? (im losing my english )

I certainly wouldn't get mad at the person though, even if he's wrong.
meh... I think AQ did entertain your initial post with a dismissive response, not an angered one. It was when you chose to re-assert your opinion that he started to show some frustration.

You've stated your disdain for his methods. Why continue?

Not a part of the loudness war!

Because he's a kid with an oversized ego, fresh out of the high-school, who was struggling to code bandlimited waveforms a few months ago but now thinks he's Jon Dattorro.

He's just craving to be praised like some of the coders on this board.

Wrong angle, obviously.

Not legally

or maybe somebody that got confirmation on his facts and is thus quite certain that he is right

not fresh, its been a few years.

8 months ago I was implementing BLEP oscillators, after having already done BLIT oscillators. I don't claim to be a DSP god and I'd welcome you to find any statement of mine where I say that or where there might be an implication. Good luck because you're not gonna find anything.

the age-old attention whore accusation again. Of course.

Again, I'm not trying to put down AQ or anything, I'm just trying to assert that the smoothing and the VST2.4 transition really don't take much work and that there's no reason to yell at potential buyers for even suggesting it.

Before I wrote the second post, I went to make sure that I was right. I got confirmation from my boss, from mike janney, and a bunch of extra info that i also incorporated into the post from antti huovilainen. The chance of all three of them being wrong and AQ being right is ... pretty much negligible. I kinda dropped the case after teh fanboys jumped on my back the first time, and last night I saw AQ getting pissy again, this time about VST2.4, and I got involved again. Why does he think its "bossing around"? I don't understand it.

Hahahaaa. Wow, this thread had a fun night.

Yes the thread title was me arke. Believe it or not I have a sense of humour. And yes it's a ladder filter. Wouldn't be much of an analog model if it wasn't. You're not stealing my mojo on that one.

It kills me that you haven't even tried it yet but you're in here mouthing off. That is SO you!

I also like your plans to put your scope before your ears when you try it. Look, there's trade-offs with every method and Poly-Ana can alias a LOT, if you set it right. It's a FEATURE. (Turn off the oversampling, open the filters completely, and play very high pitched square waves. There's your aliasing. I hope you survive the experience, wear protection.)

And no, aliasing isn't analog behavior, but we all understand that analog sound is the GOAL, but obviously the technique is digital. And set near the edges of the envelope, Poly-Ana can make some VERY digital sounds. But when patched like you'd want most classic analog sounds, it sounds like a classic analog. Yeah, you'll still find some aliases on your scope, you don't need to tell me about them. But you won't usually hear them. I don't and I'm a sound BITCH!

I actually wouldn't recommend Poly-Ana as a good choice synth for really high pitched sounds. But as an old Austrian fellow who used to tune my family's piano once told me when asked why he only spent a minute tuning the top octave... "Nobody plays up there anyvay."

Still, I may add additional bandlimiting options at some point. But I've pledged to not increase CPU usage beyond this point so that will only come after some more optimization. It will be an option because the flaws in this process can be used to great effect, see most of MDKs patches for examples.

Thanks to everyone else for the supportive comments. I particularly like the fellow who said he tried it (and liked it!) because of all the fuss in here. Just goes to show there IS no such thing as bad press. But still, I do apologize for my language yesterday morning. Was a bad day and redshift's post pressed two of my buttons at once. Sorry for being human. Sometimes I alias. ;)

Aliasing is therefore analog. :troll:

You're a dude AQ - simples as.
I reckon some here admire you for having so much faith in your product & for sticking so resolutely to your guns.
TBH I personally feel that your synth sounds amazing, but it is yet too cpu hungry for me personally & it hurts my eyes on my laptop (not keen on the GUI), so it is not my cup of tea.
BUT, that's my personal subjective opinion & I realise that peoples tastes & expectations vary & i'm sure that for many this is a dream synth (certainly sounds dreamy).
You had a vision of creating something different & you sure have - keep going for it mate.
Truth be told i'm somewhat jealous, i'm also 39, back on the 9-5, you're the same age & following your dream - heres wishing you every success, you acerbic mad professor type personage :tu:

Sure there is, 90% of your posts is just that. Believe it or not.

What's that old Hollywood saying? "Don't worry if they write anything bad about you, don't worry if they write anything good about you. Just worry if they don't talk about you at all! "

With all his rantings, arke is actually helping you and keeping this thread in view!

How ironic! :hihi:

Sorry, must be all the Cold Toast I ate this morning! :-)
