anyone know the secret behind making really in-depth synth basslines as heard in lots of minimal techno and disco-house and artists like trentemoller? it's almost as if they use multiple synth patches and some sort of step sequencing or arpeggiation with lots of modulation on filters and stuff. i've tried using things like matrix with subtractor and just cant get anything right

any chance of a sample?

Trentemoller uses a Virus and a Korg Microkorg.. the rest is recorded, mangled and sequenced in Acid. He probably layers stuff to get his sound, but the main thing is indeed modulation.. he modulates filters, effects etc. all the time to create variation and keep the interest alive throughout his tracks.

Yes, I asked this one year ago or so.
Some stuff is granular, but not everything.
What is most interesting to me: How he uses filters to give the granular sounds
a "warm" taste. Most of it is just hard work, I guess. :)
