I just placed an order to the Doru Malaia website, and after that found out that he has passed away. Does anyone know if his family (or someone else) is still running his business.

What a shame. I came across some of his ethnic samples quite a while back and they were absolutely wonderful...

Thanks to anyone that might know.

Last I heard his friends -- the ones who helped to produce the samples -- were still fulfilling orders. Don't know whether they're still doing this but I hope so. They're HUGE collections for a great price.

Here's a link to a post by Doru's colleague, Daniel Sprianu, including Mrs. Malaia's email address and an indication that she is (or was at that time) handling orders. I think she'd be the person to contact if you don't hear anything about your order.

Hope everything works out for you.

Thanks. I will let you know what I find out so others will know the situation.

Great news. I just received word that they are still accepting orders for products on the Doru Malaia website.

That's a bummer to hear about (his death, not that you can still order). Many years ago, I used to hang out on Reasonstation, and he was an active player and a huge contributor of free, high quality sounds.

Got my package from Doru's wife today. If anyone else is thinking about ordering I can confirm that the service is wonderful!
