This is the official Feature Requests Thread for Octopus. Please post all feature requests and suggestion for Octopus here and _not_ start a different thread. We monitor it, but will not comment on every suggestion. However, you can be sure we check it in depth and carefully when we work on a new version of Octopus.

Can't wait for Octo 2
Bigger harmonics and phase screens. Ability to draw straight lines. Something like you pointing a mouse cursor let's say upper left corner then by pressing and holding down "alt" and left mouse button you drag the cursor to right lower corner and there it is harmonics falling down in a "45" degree angle. Phaser and Bit-crusher effects. Modulation for effects at least distortion. 2-type or more distortion?
Comb filter and (this is not possible I think) Hz value for filter's cut-off?

Using an Operator for waveshaping can create quite decent distortion effects, even modulatable ones...chaoticz wrote: Modulation for effects at least distortion. 2-type or more distortion?
A formant is a preferred resonating frequency of any acoustical system.

What I ment is wet/dry knob modulation actually for reverb chorus and if there would be a distortion (but in this case amount of it should be also modulated).

Don't have Octopus on this computer (so I can't check), but if the envelope editor doesn't has a grid, it needs one. Also, it would be nice to see more than one envelopes at once (prefarebly switchable) for easier comparison and editing.

Michael

Sample editor. Ability to set loop regions and crossfade them. Of course reverse is a good idea. Loop start & end point modulation by envelope.

Oh yeah. Envelope looping. I could say that envelope could be a bit prettier but I won't

Add at least a couple of true LFOs. Looped envelopes are not equivalent to LFOs, which should include the following features:
1. sine (and/or triangle), saw, square, smooth random, and stepped random shapes -- envelopes don't permit the random modes
2. LFO rate and LFO level modulatable by envelope -- Octopus envelopes don't do this
Also, make UNISON a variable numerical parameter that interacts with VOICES and DETUNE. So if Voices = 9 and Unison = 3, you get three-note polyphony with three voices stacked on each note (and with the detuning of these stacked voices set by Detune).

Here's a GUI idea for the LFOs I mentioned:
Rename the Envelope Matrix to "Env/LFO matrix". Add one additional selector button, after "25...32", called "LFO 1-3". When this selector is engaged, the matrix panel works as follows: three rows show LFOs (with routing via the usual 11 columns: osc1-8, filt1-2, samp) and three rows show new envelopes with routing to the rates and levels of the three LFOs.
When one of the LFO rows is engaged in this matrix, then the panel to the left shows LFO parameters instead of the usual envelope window.

No I mean retrigger. For example I have long attack then it starts looping let say couple of times then retriggers back to start level.

Bigger envelope display - preferable a small button in the corner that transforms the entire Octopus GUI to envelope display.

yep, the essence is ...
Two LFO:s
Polyphonic unison with spread and selectble number of voices.
32 voice polyphony or more.
Easy editing (more like subtractive synthesis) with standard ADSR envelopes with knobs for fast programing.

1) An easy editing mode (like FM7).
2) Better handling of MIDI Controllers. Doesn't matter if the CCs are fixed.
3) More presets by BT. They are absolutely brilliant.
