i'm considering buying the above, because i could use a good saxophone collection and garritan's audio samples sound great.
however, i don't dabble with neither samples, samplers, nor sample players, and i'm worried it just might not be an intuitive aspect of production for me, or worse - an impedement to my creativity.

* is there anyway to experiment with the kontakt 2 player interface - like i would with a synth, i mean - basically a demo version?

* if the garritan collection is not inherently limited to be used only on the bundled kontakt 2 player, could you please suggest an apropriate sampler/sample player (as in one that could play the samples from the garritan collection) i could demo?

I don't know that there are any demos of products that use the K2 player, but I might be wrong. I CAN say that it is a very easy to use interface. It doesn't really get in the way at all. If you want an example of what it looks like, it's basically a very light version of Kontakt2. The version 2 of the player actually LOOKS just like K2, but a different color(at least on the products I own) and less features.

As for a sampler, the BEST option would be Kontakt2 itself. It's very full featured and can be a bit daunting, but it can do pretty much everything you would want. And it will load all the Kontakt Player libraries, along with almost every other format. The libraries that come with the Kontakt Player 2 are actually in a form of the Kontakt format.

Other samplers can import Kontakt files, but IMO nothing stands up to K2.

There IS a demo of Kontakt 2. I have the installer on my desktop, but I haven't used it because my only interest in it is to convert a large, intricate Emulator X bank I've been working on to Kontakt format for wider distribution, and the demo doesn't let you do that (or so I'm told).

Be advised that you can skip the second sentence above without missing my point...
