Moog little phatty -V- DS Evolver mono keyboard.
They're priced about the same, but which would you go for? I'm drawn towards the Evolver 'cos of the knob-count, but does the Moog sound over-ride that?...

I don't think they are really comparable. They both sound pretty different.

The Evolver is a much more versatile instrument, and can do far more than the Little Phatty. It has a much deeper architecture than the Moog has. If you want the "Moog" name, then the Little Phatty will get it for you, though I am not terribly convinced that it delivers the "Moog sound". Maybe. Perhaps the Moog sound means dusty old capacitors. The Little Phatty didn't have that special sound of a Minimoog.

I have had both the Phatty and the Evolver...I didn't keep either, because, frankly, they were redundant in my studio. But if I had to choose between the two, it'd be the Evolver all the way.

The evolver feels much more comfortable and connected. It has the heart, passion, and soul of a proper analog.

Although it doesn't feel as tight around corners as an F430.

:hihi:
Ok maybe I started a little early.

I demoed both last weekend, they were both on a stands beside eachother. I used headphones to listen to both, and spend about 3 hr's jumping between the units. For me, Evolver wins hands down, with the variety of sounds it produces. The moog sounded cleaner, but the Evolver seems to do more for the money. I eventually would like to have both, but Evolver is first on my list.

I'm holding out for the Future Retro XS.
