hey,

does anyone have any techniques I might use to make some industrial machinery banging and clanking away. I'm trying not to use samples, for my own reasons, so if you've got any synthesis techniques you think might be useful here, I'd hugely appreciate anything you can offer.

cheers :)

I'm not sure how useful this will be to you, but I used a few rhythmic IRs from one of Spirit Canyon Audio collections on a three notes bassline sample in Boogex. Each IR gave a complteley different rhythmic and tonal slant on the original sound, which could be layered up nicely.

I wasnt't trying for anything, but it came about as a happy accident.

hey, that's a good idea - I've got all the SPA IR's so there's quite a choice.

pulsed-filtered white noise through those is agood idea :)
thanks!

It does! I must try that as well.

Something similar to CinningBao's comment is that I was experimenting with white noise layered with other hiss-like and ambient noises sent through a trancegate with a pattern editor though not in an industrial music environment.

ah, I ended up using Absynth3 for it's 'Generate AR' function - perfect for pulsing nastiness.
