I'm near to download Rebirth.

Some questions pop up in my mind.
Is Rebirth something like a sequencer software?
Any similar software it is comparable with?
Can It handle wave files or an audio input?

May be you can give me some newer software examples
that are similar to rebirth.

It emulates the TB-303, TR-808, and TR-909 pretty accurately. Sequencing is done the Roland way, using banks of patterns programmed into each unit. Based on what I've heard from people who are intimately familiar with the originals, the Props really got the 303 emulation closer than any other product.

You can make skinned versions that load your choice of .wav (or .aiff, I should think) files in place of the usual percussion samples.

As far as I know it doesn't plug into any host except Reason. But I'm not a Rebirth expert. Someone else might have a good way to do this.

Rebirth is a very special software that has its own way of working, so you won't see any sequencer or piano roll for inserting notes.

i downloaded Rebirth after it became free, but i found it to be to clumsy to work with.
But it sounds great

It is free so there is no harm in downloading it and give it a try

@classic: Disclaimer: it's been so long since I had a machine that would run it (sadly it won't install on this box) that I don't remember for certain. But I seem to recall playing the keyboard and tweaking the wheels. And sounding entirely unlike a phunky phat dj... ah well, that's my fault, not Rebirth's!

The drums are excellent sounding and it is very easy to create your own drumloops with it, but i never got used to the synth pattern programming on it

Also if you have a rewire compatible host you can use the drumloops right into your host and use midi notes to switch between the different patterns in the drum part.

Again, this is NOT authoritative, but I don't think you can. It plugs into Reason using its own protocol, a "weird connector" if you like. You could rewire Reason into a host, and put Rebirth into a Reason rack. But, as Mary Poppins said in the movie, "that's going a bit far, don't you think?" :-}
