If you're using DVD Decrypter then you have your solution right there:rektek wrote:surely you can't be that f-ing presumptuous!

when i ripp a average dvd movie, i use dvd decrypter and it takes about 35 - 40 minutes on my athlon 2000+ xp
and thats defiantely WAY TOO LONG especially if i just want a single short clip and need to do alot of various movies/clips
- Select Mode->IFO
- Select the PGC containing the sound clip you want
- Check only the chapter containing your sound clip
- Goto Stream Processing tab
- Click Enable Stream Processing
- Check only the audio channel you want to rip
- Check Demux
- Rip

Re: Easy Hi-Q Recorder...
unfortunately it is a re-sampler.
i love how easy it is to work with, but the sound quality is garbage as it records the noise from my motherboard.
i cant even choose my MOTU as the soundcard, so i have to use C-MEDIA device which is the uttermost garbage and noisy sound ever.
also recorded sounds seems to be always clipping even if i have the record set at 5% !

theres a very simple program called "DVD to WAV"....do a search for it on www.downloads.com ....
its a freeware program with the option to buy it for unrestricted use...but the restricted one if good enough...ive used it many times....
works real simple...u put the dvd in...it starts playing the movie....u click the start button, which is the point the movie will record from, and then the end button, when ytour past the point u want to record...the3n press record...and it spits out a wave file of what u selected....
if u cant find it just pm me and ill send u a copy if youd like...

a while ago i wrote on this forum that i wasn't a fan of Imtoo's DVD Audio Ripper, but after trying the update i found it more stable and reliable for a quick snag. the DVD Decrpyter method is free though and this one is $30.

The Ulead Video Studio is outstanding for this kind of stuff, not to mention performing many other video tasks (e.g. stripping commercials; conversions; etc...). I believe that they're up to version 11, now.

I'm not sure what you're up to, but if you're doing work with video, as well, this product is highly recommended.

well their Audio Maker claims to do that. you can try opening video files in Goldwave too, a lot of formats surprisingly open in that program as waveforms. for the trickiest rips i usually call in Total Recorder.rektek wrote:speaking of which....

no video, really all that i want to do is summed up in the subject title; to rip audio from a dvd movie (in original quality)G&L_player wrote:

well unfortunately so far most options are not up to par in one way or another (either bad quality and noisy recordings, or no support for divx/avi)
one would think that the process im trying to acheive would not be such a hassle , but it seems to be.
i guess the best option is the decrypter process even though i still have no support for avi/divx
thanx anyways

sorry to raise the dead, but I've been looking for this type of solution since I got my new computer 1.5 years ago...my old machine had a Creative Live Card, and there was a tiny little app that came with it that would capture anything going through the card and dump it to a .wav.
Worked beautifully (Audio Hijack on the mac works similarly, but not nearly as smoothly -- you have to stop and start the app you intend to capture, for instance), but it only works with Creative Live cards. (probably the key to it's simplicity and effectiveness)
is it that hard to code this type of app?

Creative cards have a feature called "record what you hear", which digitally links the output to the input. That's why you need one. Any recording program could be used to record the outputs btw. Some other cards manufacturers like ESI developed simular technology. Theirs is called DirectWire.
Maybe what you want is "Jack for Windows" (under construction as far as I know)
If you just wanna rip audio tracks from DVD (for personal use only ofcourse
) there are probably a zillion applications that can do that for you. Google is your friend...

That's what the applet did, yes. The key thing here being "digitally" -- essentially, it was just splitting off the audio data stream and dumping it into a .wav file -- bypassing the D/A conversion and avoiding line noise and such...C00kie wrote:Creative cards have a feature called "record what you hear", which digitally links the output to the input.
my iMac, however, uses a SimTel audio card, for which there is no such applet (that I can find)C00kie wrote:That's why you need one. Any recording program could be used to record the outputs btw. Some other cards manufacturers like ESI developed simular technology. Theirs is called DirectWire.
I would not be surprised to learn that there was some pressure put on manufacturers (by content creators) to limit this kind of functionality for EXACTLY the reasons we want to do it
that would be sweet, my above-mentioned issue with Audio Hijack withstanding.C00kie wrote:Maybe what you want is "Jack for Windows" (under construction as far as I know)
my Friend Google has failed me so far. Most of the solutions listed in this thread all have some flaw that makes them less-than-ideal, or even useless. (I've tried a lot of them)C00kie wrote:If you just wanna rip audio tracks from DVD (for personal use only ofcourse) there are probably a zillion applications that can do that for you. I don't want to rip the entire DVD audio track (and worse: I don't want to have to figure out which .vob file I need!) to get a two-second (for instance) clip of dialogue or a sound effect.
I'd like to just roll the movie, find the audio, rewind, hit "record/capture" on an applet, press play on the DVD player, "stop" the capture applet, pause the DVD. rinse, repeat. y'know?
but thanks for mentioning "jack for win"
