Hi all,

I really need some help to get a specific sound.

It's more of a technique I think than one perticular synth or patch.

It's a kind of fast rising squeeking sound that is being used a lot in electro at the moment.

It is also used on bass sounds to give a kind of feeding back quality.

Below are a couple of links for download to give you examples of what I mean:

The 1st is a Fedde Le Grande remix of The Creeps. The specific sound is the high-pitched wobble set back slightly in the mix.

The second is a Flash Brothers track. The Sound is also set back in the mix and gradually bubbles and rises to the front for the break.

I use a Virus TI and also have various soft sythns. Ive tried automating fast rises on the cutoff but this is not the trick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Olly.

sounds like a fast LFO to pitch + pitch bending, or lfo to filter cutoff + pitch bending, or both lfo to cutoff/pitch + pitch bending. i think the first clip is a sine wave, or maybe a triangle wave, but if it has filter modulation, then a sawtooth or pulse wave will do. the second clip sounds like either a square or sawtooth, but it could also be a triangle or sine through a little bit of distortion.

Thanks roby.

Sorry to be a pain, but would you be able to tell me how to apply these?

I assume you are refering to routing? As in route the LFO to the cutoff etc?

Could you clarify?

Much appreciated!

Olly.

i would start with a triangle wave. route the LFO to pitch with a high to medium depth. the rate or speed should be close to the rhythm of the song you're working on. now use the pitch bend function to bend the sound up or down. i would set it so it controls the pitch up to 12 semitones, but it's really up to u. if your synth has the ability to route pitch to an auxiliary envelope, then do that. i would set the envelope to a slow attack, to create the rising effect.

let me know if this helps
