Hey all,

I've currently got 2xJP8080's, Nord Lead 3 and a Virus TI.
To be quite honest I don't like the Virus TI much and am thinking of replacing it with something else.

So.. here are the list of synths I've been looking at but cant decide on:

Alesis Andromeda A6
Korg Radias
Alesis Ion
Roland V Synth

Anyone have any experience with the above? bearing in mind I'm producing mainly trance/tech/prog.

whith what you have got there already in virtual analog synths, maybe try to go for the andromeda ( real analog) or else the v-synth which has a lot of possibilities in other ways to manipulate and create sounds.. this might be ( imho) the best choice since you got a lot of analog sounding stuff already, go for something that can add something special i would say... good luck on deciding:)

Alesis Andromeda... but pay attention to the well know "bad chip always out of tune" problem. Buy new, test it, and be sure to get the NEW series. Numark/Alesis fixed the bad chip osc in the last production.

After buying the A6, you'll sell the JP and the NL3 and you'll buy the Roland Vsynth.

A6 + VSynth = Heaven.

Thanks

I think I'm set on the Alesis Andy. Is there anyway to determine the revision of the unit as If I purchase it it'll be from about 1300km away so I wont be able to check the unit myself?

Well are you buying 2nd hand or new?
If new put it black on white with an email, that knowing that some units has issues with voice tuning you will send it back at no cost for you if it has this issue. (well they can easily check it before sending). In the A6 mailing list ppl submitted the serial number of their "bad" Alesis A6. if you want to know more go here:
http://mailman.code404.com/pipermail/a6/
and read here and there... the archives.

Remember that A6 sends NRPN controller (no MIDICC) but you can always control your vst in cubaseSX3 remapping the A6 knobs. I wrote a guide for this and linked here in kvr forum some weeks ago.

I'll post here later...
