I think you miss http://www.gigfiles.com where I've found a lot of very interresting sounds, it is really worth a tour.
In the same field http://www.nikkoid.com is interesting too, it is some kind of community with music hosting, and starting point to numerous subscription things... Lot of manuals and schematics from all gears, hard to find btw in the download section...

Selling The Kitchen Kits sample set on eBay was getting a bit impractical so I've decided to make them available as a free download (93 MB Zip file/ 185 Mb uncompressed). More information and a download link is available at:

Also be sure to check out Welsh's Synthesizer Cookbook at

Thinly-veiled marketing ploy you say? nooo... not me!

Enjoy the samples!

Cheers,
Fred
Hi!

Can't find any other link than the demo one.

I couldn't find it either so I tried swapping the word "Kits" for "Exps" in the link and was able to get it. The zip file seems to be encrypted, so if this is truly a free set now, I'd ever so greatful to Fred to have an unecrypted version or a password to the one already downloaded.

I'd been downloading samples from one of the sites given in the "Big List" from this thread for a few days, when today I noticed that a number of the "male vox" samples were possibly from unlicensed sources, with one of them definitely unlicensed (the "You can't handle the truth!" line from "A Few Good Men", anyone?).

This is of course a concern for anyone who releases or intends to release music made with these samples.

Maybe we can rank or somehow indicate which sites have samples with questionable status, and which are known (as far as is possible) to contain properly licensed (public domain or similar) samples?

I didn't read through the whole 12 pages of thread so please excuse me if this issue has already been raised.

Hello Jer, Thanks for the advice.
I'm the developper of Free samples n loops .
All the samples, loops and soundfonts from my website, except those given by Juan Sanchez from Equinox Sounds have been created by me with free and copyright-free stuff; they're licenced under a "Sampling +1.0" licence. It means that you can sample, mash-up or transform my work for commercial or noncommercial purposes, except for advertising which is prohibited, and you can also distribute copies of my work for non-commercial purposes. You must also attribute my work by exemple linking to my website.

I hope it helps,

Vince

Thanks Vince, that is very useful to know.
