What would be in your opinion the best 4-octave midi keyboard in the 150-200 euros range?
But mind, I'm not talking about number of features (I just need keys and some knobs and sliders), I'm talking about quality of its components(best keys, best knobs, most reliable drivers, etc) I owned an Evolution but its keys are quite mediocre.
I was considering Novation Remote LE, or maybe M-Audio Axiom, though the latter is a bit more expensive.
so I welcome your ideas, but remember: best quality, not quantity.
thx mates

These were on my list until I heard there was a lot of problems with the keys on these models...I suppose edirol have fixed the issue though with their newer models..Timerider wrote:Look at the Edirol PCR series, they have a great feel and action to them!

I've just got a Emu X Board 49@£95/139 Euro from
here and while it may not be the 'best' around at this sort of price, I like it. Reasonable action, 16 knobs (no sliders) with plenty of editing possibilities. It's a bit 'plasticy' but for home use it'll do just fine for me.
It's a damn sight better than the Edirol PCR50 I stupidly bought some time back, mind you, this was one of the earlier models and I believe most/all of the problem have been fixed now.
On a side note, the bundled software with the X Bard consists of Ableton Lite and Emu Proteus LX LE. The page@Dolphinmusic advertises they are giving away an extra 1.5gb Emu sample library 'for a limited time only' and cheapskate that I am, the idea of 1.5gb of free samples swayed the deal. Of course, when the X Board arrived, there was so sign of the extra samples. As the X Board is now fairly old, I just assumed I'd missed out on this offer and Dolphinmusic hadn't amended their page.
Dolphinmusic mailed me to ask if my X Board had arrived, and also asked if there were any discrepancies. I replied saying the offer of the free sample library was a consideration when I placed my order, but I understood if I'd missed out on this offer. To their credit, two days later, the three Emu sample discs arrived, Mo' Phat, Planet Earth and Protean drums
Having installed them, I can see why they're giving them away tbh, they're ok I guess, but I certainly wouldn't buy them by themselves.
