im searching for a zip file that contains thousands of chords as midi files. im not searching for chordspace etc.
im looking for midi files containing chords only (1 chord per file)
i could live with a tool that creates thousands of midi chords when its very easy to use (10 clicks :-) )
can anyone help me out?

FL Studio can create almost any chord you want. In the piano roll, click the main menu button -> Chord. Click on a note (middle C). File -> Export to MIDI.

Mouse clicks aside, what is your goal?

It's not as easy as that. There are dozens of different chords, then on top of that, there are dozens of different ways of writing each chord.
Even something as simple as a root-position C major triad can be written in many different ways. - Writing for a horn section for example will be very different to writing for a guitar, which will be different again to writing for a piano, which will be very different for writing for a wind quartet, etc.

Also, it's important to understand not only the chords themselves, but also the chord progressions, and the voice-leading of the individual parts. - In other words, just shoving chords together is not going to make good music in itself.

It is so much easier to understand chords for yourself. They aren't difficult. Start with simple triads and work on from there. Once you get the basics, you will be able to use them to fit your particular situation. My Introduction to Music Theory and my post on Scales, Modes and Chords might help.

It's like in literature; shoving random words together from the dictionary is not going to make a good story.
Unfamiliar words can be looked up in my Glossary of musical terms.

Although you may be able to find a collection of chords there are so many types that the likely hood that you'l find all in one place is highly unlikely.. You could try pooling them from different sources. Files, Hosts with built in chords, plugins etc.. Have you tryed mucoder's tonespace? I see you've already tryed Chordspace.. There are other Chord plugins where you could create your own MIDI files from. Just do a google search and you should come up with something..

So shall we give this guy a scrapbook with 1000 pictures of fish (taken at different "angles") or teach him how to catch his own and fry them to his own taste?

It doesn't exist. But I could make you one for say $1 per chord since you want thousands ;-)

Brian Eno and David Bowie does not agree. :D

i think this may be the market for the Cognitone Harmony Navigator. Thousands of chords available and try out the progresssions and maybe even some decent voice leading and output into midi files.

my experience for years was for years I couldn't figure out why some song's chord progressions fell right into place and others could never sound like the song. it's all about finding the proper inversions so the voice leading tracks/supports the melody line. I still have my problems with this, but I have a better sense of what's going on now. This isn't likely to happen working with just a set of 'standard' chords forms (well maybe some very simple folk)

Imagine yourself composing with this: pick any of the thousands of midi file you have, paste one chord into the arrangement, try how it sounds, delete it, pick and paste another one, etc etc...

Then once it all fits you may want to move (and repeat!) individual notes horizontally, because playing chords is not simply slamming 4 voices at the same time. That limits the style tremendously.

If you think of this as an improvement of your workflow, rethink what your real problem is... Maybe piano/keyboard lessons are what you really need ;-)

So, you want a zip file with thousands of chords? But you don't want to even remotely learn how they relate to each other?
Bravo!
Why bravo?
Because that's as easy as it could get!
Just place any number of notes on top of each other and export them as a MIDI file. Then alter some notes. Export again. Add some more notes. Save again. Delete some notes. Save again.
There you go! No need to hunt such a MIDI-file-zip down at all!

On a serious note (errm...): If you don't have an idea about how to combine these chords (and you won't have an idea, unless you know a bit about them yourself), you won't compose with them either, regardless of if or if not you'll find any such a MIDI file.

And fortunately, that's still the truth, because otherwise everybody could just come along, pretending to be a composer.

Btw, yes, I am serious. As much as I don't have anything against mouse-click-composing, this request is just trolling at its best.

In your imagination maybe :hihi:

Send me a PM with your email address, and I'll give you my bank details.
After receiving an amount in Euro's I'll send you a zip file with as many chords as there were Euro's transferred to my bank account.

Deal?
