Best orchestral sounds....Yamaha Motif?

Hi all,

I'm looking for the best orchestral sounds on the market! I'm looking to maybe get a Yamaha Motif sx, I know Dr. Dre, Scott Storch use these I've and I've even seen Stevie Wonder on youtube playing one, So it must be good...

I'm willing to fork out 2,400 GBP, so before I do I thought I'd better check with you lot to see what you think.....?

If you already have EWQLSO Gold as you said in the other thread you're hardly have to shell out £2.400 for a Motif for orchestral sounds alone

You might still want to get one for the keybaurd and live playing, and it has a nice soundset.

Having said that you should be able to get all the Dr Dre, Scott Storch and Steveie Wonder you need without it.

I seriously doubt the Motif is going to be any improvement on EWQLSO Gold, which you already own - other than the fact that you miss out on close micced stuff, but you could upgrade to Platinum XP for the kind of money you're talking about, or alternatively supplement it with VSL Opus 2...

If you were playing live it might make more sense to get a workstation like that..

I never liked the Motifs orchestral sounds. Everything is great though, and Stevie Wonder uses the Motif for E-Pianos and Synths. I'd always prefered orchestral sounds of the Roland Fantom + Expansion Boards, or Korg Triton + Expansion Boards. Why don't you check the audio demos on:

I'd go for the Roland Fantom plus Exp. for orchestral stuff.

Oh, you own the EWQLSO Gold? What do you want with a workstation then? Soundwise it's not going to get better when you buy a hardware workstation.

Yeah, if you're the studio kinda guy, and not the live person, then the software solution is your best bet. I've heard wonderful scores done using the EWQLSO, and the miroslav orchestral libraries.
