I'm looking for sample collections for Kontakt 2 including synths, atmospheres, ambience, etc.
Samplelogics K2 sample collection AIR - Ambience Impacts Rhythms, http://www.samplelogic.com/ seems interesting. Sonic Couture's Abstrakt is nice, but just too small.
I've seen Ian Boddys all K2players (Morphology, Outer limits, etc) and Hollow sun's Nostalgia, too, but I'd prefer if the library wasn't locked in a Kontakt player or any other software. Just plain .nki-files would be great.
Anybody?

Anyway, if I'm not mistaken, those Kontakt Player romplers can be loaded within Kontakt 2. You need to install the players and authorize them and run it one time, then all should be loadable in Kontakt2.
Alternatively, I think that some of the Nucleus SoundLab stuff is loadable in Kontakt. Check out the freebies page there:
http://www.nucleus-soundlab.com/freebies.html
and look for the ones which are in soundfont format (SoundcellFREE & DroneStructures). K2 supports soundfonts. If you like them, buy the full versions.

...why not go with their new Electronica Collection? it features Abstrakt, Abstrakt:Bass and the Synthi AKS. Both the AKS and the Bass library have dedicated atmospheres and drones presets...

...and for additional hits and fx you take this new library...

I own A.I.R.....there isn't much that is an alternative to it. It has its own sound, and its own character. The closest you could get, I guess......Spectrasonics' Stylus and Atmosphere, but that's 2 massive plug-ins that are gonna run you about $600.

Actually I've had a second look at the old Spectrasonics classics Distorted reality 1 & 2, http://www.ilio.com/spectrasonics/disto ... index.html
Been wanting them for a long time.
But the problem is importing them as akai-libraries into K2. I've tried to do that with several akai-libraries, but it has never worked, no matter how much NI raves about K2s "universal import". Anyway, I guess those libraries may sound a bit dated nowadays, and Spectrasonics still ask full price for both...

AIR seems to be the best bet right now.vespers75 wrote:I own A.I.R.....there isn't much that is an alternative to it. It has its own sound, and its own character. Kontakt players me like not
My problem with AIR is continuity and protection of my investment. How will I know that I can use that 249 euro sample library 3 years from now? I don't know anything about Samplelogic and if they are around then. If they are not, I guess I won't be able to reinstall the plugin when needed, since AIR requires the Kontakt 2 player, which requires a challenge/response code to work at all. Therefore, I'll just have to count on not being able to use any kontakt player libraries too long.
I'm one of those suckers who once spent plenty of $$ on Logic for PC, so it wouldn't be the first time I throw my money away, though...

I also have both Distorted Reality libraries....I've had them for about 2 years now. No, I don't think they sound dated.....they're so damn experimental sounding that it would nearly be impossible for them to sound dated, really. Besides, I often still here certain sounds from those libraries on television to this day. I imported mine into Sampletank 2, though. Sounds great, and had no problems whatsoever importing them.klagga wrote:Actually I've had a second look at the old Spectrasonics classics Distorted reality 1 & 2, http://www.ilio.com/spectrasonics/disto ... index.html

I'm not a big fan of Native Instruments either, but as far as sample players go, I don't mind the Kontakt instruments as much as these other players that require a damn dongle. What's so bad about challenge/response really? Almost any VI is going to have at least that as copy protection. So, you go through the little process....once you get the authorization code, you write it down and KEEP IT. This way you can re-enter it if you ever have to uninstall/reinstall. I've done this a few times before with the old Kontakt Players, such as StormDrum....and had no problems with it whatsoever.klagga wrote:AIR seems to be the best bet right now.vespers75 wrote:I own A.I.R.....there isn't much that is an alternative to it. Oh, and it doesn't matter if SampleLogic folds or not 3 years from now....all the authorization is through Native Instruments.klagga wrote:AIR seems to be the best bet right now.vespers75 wrote:I own A.I.R.....there isn't much that is an alternative to it. What about LINPLUG SOPHISTRY ? I know I know... you prefer nki files... but Sophistry is really a great "atmosphere" synth. And the price is really good for 4GB of samples running under a great synth engine.

Well, let's just hope NI is around 3 years from now, then.vespers75 wrote: Oh, and it doesn't matter if SampleLogic folds or not 3 years from now....all the authorization is through Native Instruments.

NI aren't going anywhere...they've been around for years, and are possibly the best-selling VI creators on the market....not to mention that they are endorsed and used by so many well-known artists.klagga wrote:Well, let's just hope NI is around 3 years from now, then.vespers75 wrote: Oh, and it doesn't matter if SampleLogic folds or not 3 years from now....all the authorization is through Native Instruments.

And so was emagic, and still they had to sell me and countless of other PC logic users out to survive.vespers75 wrote:NI ... they've been around for years ... not to mention that they are endorsed and used by so many well-known artists.
But, I sure hope you're right.

Morphology is downloadable without any player from the Zero-g website, if you're interested in that. So is "Altered States".....klagga wrote:I'm looking for sample collections for Kontakt 2 including synths, atmospheres, ambience, etc.
