A small improvement to the browser I would make is to filter only plugins in the plugin directory (and not show folders that do not contain plugins either), samples only in the sample folder, etc.

Seeing as how you're already using a nonstandard interface (as in: not a windows titlebar etc...), why not add the file/edit/program stuff to the titlebar? I'm not sure if i even agree with myself on this idea though, so a poll would be in order

Precious gui space used for such handy tools are fine with me..sosoma wrote:One thing I would like to see in the sequencer window is a small strip that is bascially a zoomed out view of the entire arangement. You could navigate here and set the loop points. If you are familiar with vegas, wave edit, After effects or Live, I know those have it. I assume many other programs do too.
+1
-As far as I'm concerned, I would remove the quick load drop down and put it in the file menu.
-I would remove as well undo and redo buttons to keep the gui as clean as possible. Maybe a customizable toolbar next to the file, edit etc. menu could be nice.
-As it has been said, a numerical cpu meter would be much appreciated.

but with the full midi-editor they're currently the only way to edit the event-list...larm wrote:I never use themjorgen wrote: anyone mind if I remove the < > buttons next to part/note length?

also with both 1.x and XT2 they're the only way to edit very short notes without having to zoom in to a ridiculous level - so either you improve the object-sensitivity of the mouse-cursor or you can't remove the buttons without harming the workflow significantly...

I'm sort of on a different position about this ...Mighty Pea wrote:Seeing as how you're already using a nonstandard interface (as in: not a windows titlebar etc...), why not add the file/edit/program stuff to the titlebar? I rather would like that jorgen uses the standard windowing system for the main window (wm decorations, resizing abilities, minimize/maximize etc. ...), cause I think a lot of work could be saved when doing so (and I think all the dual-monitor troubles would be a thing of the past in a few minutes work).
And it's not that the window managers all look as garbage as the Win95 classic title menues or in linux the standard motif windows - especially on linux you have almost infinite choices

For changing the length of those really tiny notes you can use click in the Length box and drug up and down.jens wrote:also with both 1.x and XT2 they're the only way to edit very short notes without having to zoom in to a ridiculous level - so either you improve the object-sensitivity of the mouse-cursor or you can't remove the buttons without harming the workflow significantly...
It would be good to have some keys assigned for this function too. Something like Alt+arrows ...

Hmmmm - The good thing about these is that they increase/decrease note length of the selected notes by whatever the snap value is yes?jorgen wrote:some nice suggestions, thanks

If you use click-drag on the edge of one of a group of selected notes this does exactly the same thing?
Maybe they can be sacrificed in that case, but leave the text edit box though.
I'm just wondering if some of the features on the object bar can be "hidden" by clever ways of interacting with the mouse maybe we don't need them.
For example - I was a bit of a campaigner for editing notes up and down (and by octave) in the midi editor, but maybe we should move notes up and down via a click-drag operation that operates with a x value constraint (so that you don't misalign all the notes in the operation) - A modifier key perhaps.
Likewise with octave up and down even?
I don't know - just suggestions really if you're looking for more space on the object bar.
I don't really desperately need these things as icons on the object bar, I just need to be able to do them easily - whether it's a shortcut key or a clever use of the mouse actions.
Does anyone agree with any of this or am I totally off track?
Regards
Caleb

Ok, I think Ill have to make the object-bar with categories (one category can be show all of course), but for a part it would be somthing like cat-1) part settings (name, length), cat-2 midi groove/fx (shuffle, gate, arp, list of vst midi fx), cat-3 process (slice, randomize, compose etc). The upper row of the object-bar will show categories, and the lowe row will show value boxes wth text on the left
oh, and I want to move the color picker out of the object-bar and next to the zoom controller. What you think

cheers

I think it would needlessly introduce an inconsistencyjorgen wrote:
