i have a couple of samples i want to trigger during songs ... basically just noise ...

now since no one has got a free hand i am looking for a gadget that i can just stamp on.

like a harddisk that i can copy wave files on + plus 2 buttons to browse back and forth and one to activate the chosen sample...

does anyone know if something like this exists? would it be possible to build something like that (without really knowing what i am doing :-/)

or do i have to buy a midi controller, hook it up to the p.c. and use a software sampler...?

what would the best way of doing this be?

thanx for any hints

Yep, Midi controller hooked up with PC could do that.

Depends on what you want to produce. If it has to be a sample, get a kick trigger with a trigger-to-midi converter and hook it up to a sampler, software or hardware. The Roland SPD-S is a sampler with trigger inputs; you could use that as well.

There are also midi foot controllers for bass notes (for organs, for example).

If it doesn't have to be a sample, then look for a bass drum pedal, have it kick to something that makes noise, (a drum, a cardboard box, whatever) and mike it up an add fx.

Some guitar delay stompers can store and playback samples ... my old Aria ADS-Sampler pedal does it (only one sample at a time).
The other option is a midi controller with a footswitch.
