Having used only a computer for the last year, I finally got myself a mixer to move a little bit more into the hardware realm. It's a Tascam M216 and it should arrive any day now.
The thing is that I only have a Presonus Firebox right now (6 outputs of which two of them are labeled main). I'll have to get a new soundcard with more outs, put I still have a few setup questions, because I also want to get a analog reel recorder.
I don't have any experience with audio gear, so please bear with me.
If I connect all 6 outputs to the mixer and than connect my monitors to the mixer, would there still be a way to route the master channel on the mixer not only to the monitors, but also back into the two line ins on the firebox for recording on the computer or would that create some weird feedback loop? Or do I have to connect the monitors to the main outs of the firebox and only route the 4 outputs to the mixer and than back into firebox for this to work?
And if I get a analog recorder, would you again be able to connect the recorder and the monitors to the master on the mixer or would I route everything to the recorder and than connect the monitors to the reel recorder (if they even let you do that)...
thanks
small studio setup (soundcard/mixer)

Maybe this'll help too: http://www.soundcraft.com/palz.asp
I don't think you'll have a problem with the firebox. It should be designed for what you want
